Persona 4 Revival Trailer Spotlights Yu Narukami Ahead of 2027 Launch
Atlus used Anime Expo 2026 to unveil a new character trailer for Persona 4 Revival built entirely around protagonist Yu Narukami, giving fans their clearest look yet at the silent hero ahead of the remake’s February 18, 2027 launch. The studio shared a new Persona 4 Revival character trailer highlighting the updated look of the protagonist Yu Narukami, spending over a minute on footage from event scenes, cinematic sequences and combat.
Yu Narukami’s First Steps Into the TV World
The footage opens with Yu entering the TV world for the first time alongside Chie Satonaka and Yosuke Hanamura, then witnesses him summon his Persona, Izanagi, for the first time. Later beats draw on content from the Persona 4 Golden update, including the ability to earn a scooter license. Because the protagonist remains a silent lead throughout most of the game, players only hear new voice actor Nazeeh Tarsha at the very end of the trailer.
Noisy Pixel confirmed the wider casting details, reporting that the protagonist is voiced by Nazeeh Tarsha in English and Daisuke Namikawa in Japanese, and is officially named Yu Narukami in other media as a second-year high school student who moves to Inaba to live with his uncle for the year. Throughout the story, Yu and the rest of the Investigation Team unite to catch a serial killer who is throwing victims into a bizarre world accessible only through televisions.
Guarding, Send Flying and Baton Pass Round Out Combat
Alongside the story beats, the trailer reinforces the combat overhaul Atlus has been building toward. A new guard mechanic lets players strike Shadows as they flinch from a blocked attack for a preemptive strike, while Shadows afflicted with a status ailment can now be sent flying to spread that ailment to nearby foes. Baton Pass, which lets party members pass turns to one another, also carries over from Persona 5 and Persona 3 Reload.
Those additions sit alongside the previously revealed Prime Time system, a charge-based state that grants free attacks before culminating in a finishing move Atlus calls Series Finale, details the publisher laid out during its dedicated June broadcast on the Persona 4 Revival remake.
Rise Trailer Gives Fans Their First Yu Narukami Meme
The Narukami spotlight wasn’t the only Persona 4 Revival footage shown at Anime Expo. Atlus also released a Revival trailer showcasing Rise, the teen idol support character who helps guide the Investigation Team through battles. Yu appears a few times throughout that clip, including one moment where, instead of enthusiastically cheering Rise on, he flips up a heart-shaped sign with a glazed, infatuated look while still maintaining his usual deadpan composure.
According to Kotaku, the shot may have kicked off one of Persona 4 Revival’s first memes, with fans already photoshopping Yu’s sign for their own jokes. It’s a small moment, but for a series whose remade protagonists have sometimes been criticised as blank slates, it signals Atlus is willing to let Yu’s established anime-derived personality bleed into the game itself.
Persona 4 Revival Launches February 18, 2027
Persona 4 Revival remains on track for February 18, 2027, arriving on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC via Steam and the Microsoft Store, with day-one availability on Xbox Game Pass. The remake rebuilds Persona 4 Golden, the 2012 expanded edition of the original 2008 PS2 release, using the same production template Atlus applied to 2024’s Persona 3 Reload, right down to fielding an entirely new English voice cast rather than bringing back original actors like Troy Baker and Yuri Lowenthal.
That casting decision proved divisive when Persona 3 Reload made the same call, and early reactions suggest the Persona 4 fanbase is similarly split. Still, with a steady drip of character trailers since the game’s June 2026 release-date reveal at the Xbox Games Showcase, Atlus appears to be building momentum methodically rather than saving everything for launch.
