Editorial Policy
This policy explains how ShaneTheGamer (STG) researches, writes, edits and corrects its coverage. It applies to every article on this site.
Editorial independence
Our editorial decisions are made independently of commercial relationships. STG is funded through advertising, affiliate links and occasional sponsored content. Affiliate links never cost you extra, and they never determine our verdicts. Sponsored or paid content is always clearly labelled as such.
Accuracy & sourcing
We aim to get it right the first time. Reporting is based on primary sources wherever possible — official announcements, developer and publisher statements, patch notes, and first-hand testing. We link to our sources so you can verify claims yourself. Rumours and leaks are labelled as such.
Reviews
Our reviews reflect genuine hands-on time with a game or product. When review code, hardware or access is provided by a publisher or manufacturer, that has no bearing on our score or conclusions, and we disclose it where relevant.
Use of AI
We use AI tools to assist with research, drafting and formatting for some news coverage, which helps us report fast-moving stories quickly. Every published article is reviewed and edited by a human member of the STG team, who is responsible for its accuracy and for the byline it carries. We do not publish unreviewed machine-generated content.
Corrections
When we make a factual error, we fix it promptly and, where the correction is significant, note it on the article. Spotted a mistake? Email us via Contact Us and we’ll act on it.
Authorship & expertise
Articles are written by named members of The STG Team, each covering the platforms and genres they know best. Author bios set out their background and areas of expertise.
