Fortnite Gold and Gummy Hours: Start Times and Power-Ups for July 4 Weekend

Fortnite players have a fresh reason to log in this holiday weekend, as Epic Games is running special Gold and Gummy Hours starting Saturday, July 4. According to Destructoid, the limited-time event boosts the odds of finding Gold and Gummy Sprite variants and comes bundled with several bonus perks that only apply while the event is live.

The event follows a similar format to the daily Power Hours that have been running in Fortnite over the past two weeks, giving players a concentrated window to farm rarer collectibles before they disappear again.

When Gold and Gummy Hours Go Live

Per Destructoid’s report, the first Gold and Gummy Hours session kicks off on Saturday, July 4 at 11am PT / 1pm CT / 2pm ET, and will run for two hours. Players in Europe can catch it at 6pm UTC / 7pm BST / 8pm CET.

Anyone who misses the morning slot, or simply wants another shot at the bonuses, gets a second chance later the same day. The event returns from 6pm PT / 8pm CT / 9pm ET through 8pm PT / 10pm CT / 11pm ET, which translates to the early hours of July 5 for European players at 1am UTC / 2am BST / 3am CEST.

What Players Get During the Event

As with previous Power Hours, Destructoid notes that the biggest draw is a significantly boosted chance of finding all types of Gold and Gummy Sprites while the event window is active. That alone should make the two-hour slots worth prioritizing for collectors chasing specific variants.

On top of the improved drop rates, players will start each round with a Mythic Gold Fish, an item that launches users into the air and causes eliminations to drop extra Gold while it’s active. Matches will also begin with a Self-Revive Device already in hand, giving squads a bit more breathing room in firefights.

Sprites will additionally level up faster at Campfires during the event, according to Destructoid, making it an efficient time to fast-track any collectibles that are close to their next tier. All of these bonuses are strictly tied to the Gold and Gummy Hours windows, so they won’t carry over once the event periods end.

Plan Around the Two Windows

With only two two-hour windows available on July 4, players hoping to maximize their Sprite collection or stock up on Mythic Gold Fish encounters will want to set reminders around both slots. Given the event’s short duration, jumping in right as each session begins should offer the best odds at capitalizing on the boosted spawn rates before the crowd thins out.
