Skullcandy snip the cables and go wireless with their latest and greatest, not too mention funky PLYR gaming headset.

The full sized headphones come with a killer sound EQ and spatial enhancements built-in.

Sure, it will depend on the audio source as to what output you receive, but if you have games that effectively use ‘3D spatial’, like on PlayStation 5, you’ll feel that HQ virtual audio-scape booming of explosions, whizzing of bullets and hear that sneaky enemy trying to flank you.

In the box you’ll get a USB charge cable and an old school 3.5mm cable.

The battery will see you right for up to 24 hours non stop gaming, however the best bit here is that Skullcandy’s PLYR have been built to work with any console or device.

Pair up via bluetooth to your PC, Mac, PS4 or PS5, Switch and mobile. You can also dual pair. Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S need to be wired though.

If the game’s getting good and you’re low on juice, plug in the USB cable, or that’s where the 3.5mm comes in handy (but you won’t likely get the same quality audio).

If you’re not a chatty gamer, Skullcandy have made the boom mic removable from the PLYR or you can simply mute with a red LED light indicating that you’ve gone silent.

This said, the PLYR has a secondary mic on the headset itself, so if you simply want to use the PLYR to rock out with on the go on your mobile, you’ll be able to use handsfree.

I tried this and it was okay. The on-board mic worked well, but when a bit windy or in a stupidly noisy environment like the CBD noise pollution did filter in.

The PLYR itself is super light, and has memory foam ear cups that prevent sweat and dust and can be a comfy wear for extended periods. There’s also audio controls on the headset.

Battery life on the unit that I reviewed was on the mark. While I did not game for 24 hours straight, I did use as my primary headset for a couple of weeks.

I managed to squeeze 8 days of roughly 4 hours gaming per day from a full charge. That’s slightly over the factory listed length of battery life.

Artistically designed to be worn for any use, the Skullcandy PLYR is an all round headset. From gaming marathons on your preferred platform through to pumping out your playlist or podcast streams at around one third of the cost of an equivalent competitor’s headset.

We all are. From stuff we want to gear we need right now our dollars aren’t quite going as far.

And with Father’s Day just around the corner it get’s super tricky to celebrate your Dad while not spending too much.

The Skullcandy Dime is a set of wireless bluetooth connecting earbuds that’s tiny on size and price but not on quality it seems.

Having received a pair for this review I was expecting the low cost earbuds to be, you know, of lesser quality than my ears are used to.

The Skullcandy Dime Wireless Earbuds will connect up to either iOS (Apple devices) or Android and to get the most out of your Skullcandy’s use their free app.

The Dimes are water resistant and a snug fit without being too obtrusive and as for sound quality – they out shone Apple’s AirPods Pro which I was not expecting.

Not only did they outperform these on clarity and deep bass, but also on handsfree calling with a single mic in each bud.

Calls were clear and the caller had no trouble hearing me when I was in a noise cluttered environment.

The Dime buds also have touch control for your handsfree or music playback control. This also worked well.

There’s no ANC (Active Noise Cancelation) with the Dimes and albeit a snug fit I did notice that feature was missing with outside noise sneaking its way in from time to time.

The battery life is okay, not great.

You’ll get up to 3.5 hours on a single use from full to flat and the teeny charging case gives you around 8 hours of charge, or two and a bit full charges.

My use with the Dimes I ran them flat, at full volume music streaming only in just a little under 3 hours.

Taking calls seemed to lessen the life a wee bit more, and on an exceptionally busy day I only got around 2 hours out of them before they fully died.

Still, with the price tag of around $50 I wouldn’t complain too much.

They do everything the more expensive brands do, sure they don’t come with the full suite of bells and whistles, but hey, they do their job, exceptionally well.

Skullcandy Dimes are an essential set to have, whether it’s for a second back up pair or if you’re ready to get in to wireless earbuds.

An entry point model with the features of a midrange set.

It’s also within the Skullcandy app you can adjust the audio output to your liking, pumping up the bass.

I tried using voice command in a busy environment to see just how intuitive the Grind buds are. They heard and enacted every command, never missing a beat.

This is made possible by each bud having dual noise cancelling microphones and this also sets the perfect clarity experienced with handsfree calling.

Noise canceling can be toggled on or off, if say you’re in a hectic city street and need to hear your surroundings,

Skullcandy want you to keep your phone in your pocket or bag as much as possible so they added Spotify tap. This is exactly what it sounds like. One tap on a earbud and Spotify is good to go.

The Grind earbuds can be used in mono mode (one bud only) and can share your audio to another set of Grind’s.

The life of the Grind is damn good.

The earbuds themselves will give you around 9 hours constant use. A total of 40 hours when included with the charging case.

Rapid charge will see you right from zero to 2 hours use from a 10 minute charge.

Myself wearing both the charge case and buds down, I gave them a rapid charge of 10 minutes and then streamed Spotify for the said 2 hours. After this they still had 17% charge in them, which I estimate could have given me another 1 or 2 hours. Possibly more.

But there’s no wireless charging – you’ll need to cable.

The Skullcandy Grind True Wireless are the earbuds that you’ll never lose. Skullcandy added a Tile locator chip inside so you can find and track your buds if you misplace them.

Comfy to wear and a snug fit the Skullcandy Grind True Wireless buds have a lot going on and stay on, likely being the only bluetooth earbuds out there can keep up with you.
