Shane
Set in the mid 1990’s a same sex couple, Aaron (Ari Cohen) and Malik (Jeffery Bower-Chapman) move in to a small sleepy American town from the city with their daughter Kayla (Jennifer Laporte).
But the town is not as sleepy as it seems.
Aaron has taken a job while Malik, a copy-writer works from home and Kayla faces the awkwardness of starting at a new school.
It’s not too long before weird things start to be noticed as Malik begins to think that their immediate neighbors are less than ordinary.
As Malik spirals in to what can only be described as hysteria, Aaron tries to keep the family together.
Persecution against minorities, rituals and dark forces are at play.
The discovery of a video of a same sex couple that lived at the house some years before only deepens the mystery for Malik as he tries to convince Aaron that they are not safe there.
Malik ends up being very right.
Spiral is not only an enjoyable film, where characters are fully relatable, it also touches on a few horror genres in one go.
Exclusively streaming on AMC’s Shudder – Spiral is a film I most definitely recommend watching now.
