Persona 4 Revival Trailer Introduces the Silent Protagonist
Atlus has released a new character trailer for Persona 4 Revival spotlighting the game’s protagonist, the silent, player-named transfer student at the heart of the upcoming remake. Atlus has launched a series of character sizzle trailers for Persona 4 Revival, with the first character featured being the Protagonist, whose name you will be able to input by yourself. The clip arrives as Atlus continues rolling out cast-focused promos ahead of the RPG’s February 2027 launch.
A Silent Hero Who Only Speaks in Battle
Per the official character description shared alongside the trailer, the protagonist is a second-year high school student who, due to unfortunate circumstances with his parents, was sent to live in Inaba at the home of his uncle, mirroring the setup from the 2008 original and its 2012 expansion, Persona 4 Golden. Despite being the player-controlled lead, he largely stays quiet during story scenes, with other cast members carrying the dialogue around him.
Since he only speaks during battles and not in most of the event conversations, the conversation scenes in this trailer instead feature other characters talking around him, a structural quirk RPG Site’s coverage confirms carries over directly from the source material. According to Siliconera’s breakdown of the footage, since the character is a silent protagonist, viewers only hear the new voice actor at the very end of the trailer.
Nazeeh Tarsha and Daisuke Namikawa Take Over the Role
The remake hands the English performance to a new actor, with Atlus confirming the protagonist is voiced by Nazeeh Tarsha in English and Daisuke Namikawa in Japanese. Tarsha replaces original English voice actor Johnny Yong Bosch as part of a broader recasting across Persona 4 Revival’s English dub, a change Atlus has applied to several returning characters for the remake.
Siliconera’s look at the trailer notes it runs for over a minute, looking at footage from event scenes, cinematic sequences, and combat from the upcoming remake, tracking the protagonist’s early entry into the game’s supernatural TV World. Things begin with him entering the TV world for the first time alongside Chie Satonaka and Yosuke Hanamura, and viewers get to witness him summon his Persona Izanagi for the first time, echoing the character’s signature awakening moment from the original release.
Trailer Follows Rise and Yosuke Spotlights in Atlus’s Rollout
The protagonist trailer is the opening entry in an ongoing series of character sizzle reels; Atlus has since followed it with dedicated spotlights on other Investigation Team members. RPGamer confirms the trailer frames him as the game’s nameable protagonist, a transfer student to the small rural town of Inaba who gets caught up in events surrounding a series of murders and disappearances, before he and his classmates uncover that the events are associated with the mysterious Midnight Channel and a supernatural Shadow World that they are able to enter alongside their friends.
Atlus subsequently put idol character Rise Kujikawa in the spotlight, with a companion trailer noted by Turn Based Lovers as giving players another chance to hear Rise’s new English voice performance by Abby Trott. Rise’s casting was also confirmed publicly during a fan panel at Anime Expo 2026, where Atlus staff appeared alongside voice talent to discuss the remake.
Combat Rework Adds Prime Time and Series Finale Attacks
Beyond the character reveals, Atlus has detailed a reworked battle system for the remake. RPGFan’s coverage of Atlus’s June broadcast outlines four key improvements distinguishing Revival from its previous releases: Guarding, Send Flying, Baton Pass, and Prime Time. Filling a dedicated meter lets the party enter a super-charged combat state that, when active, reduces all skill point costs to zero and gives access to a Prime Time Finish, a supercharged attack that deals massive damage.
Release Date and Platforms
Persona 4 Revival is confirmed for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and PC via Steam and Microsoft Store on February 18, 2027, and it will also be available via Game Pass. That day-one Game Pass availability applies globally through Xbox Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass, meaning New Zealand and Australian subscribers will be able to access the remake at launch without a separate purchase, alongside standard digital and physical retail options across the region.
The remake is developed internally by P-Studio, the same Atlus team behind Persona 3 Reload and Persona 5 Royal, and rebuilds Persona 4 Golden’s visuals and interface to match the studio’s more recent releases. With Persona 6 also now officially confirmed, Revival positions itself as a bridge title for newcomers wanting to catch up on the franchise’s beloved mid-2000s mystery before the next mainline entry arrives.
