Amazon has recently announced the first Alexa assistant for your car.

The first Echo device designed for use on the road, Echo Auto lets you have Alexa as your driving companion, whether in your car, van or truck, for your daily commute or your weekend drive to visit family and friends. With the average age of vehicles being 14.4+ years in New Zealand (2017 data), the Echo Auto offers an inexpensive way to upgrade your car and benefit from a more modern experience with the power of voice.

Echo Auto gives Kiwis the ability to take Alexa out on the town while listening to an audiobook via Audible, or ask Alexa to play Today’s Hits, read you the news, read your grocery list to you or manage your calendar.

Stuck in traffic at the end of the day and worried no one is going to be home in time to turn the smart-lights on for your indoor pet? No worries, control your compatible smart home devices, you can link Echo auto to your home based Alexa Echo’s to announce to the family you’re nearly home.

The Echo Auto has a custom-designed eight-microphone array which has been designed to account for challenging in-car acoustics, enabling Alexa to hear utterances over music, aircon, and road noise.

Powered by your car’s 12V power outlet or integrated USB port, Echo Auto connects to your radio system through a 3.5 mm audio jack or Bluetooth and will also connect to Alexa through the Alexa app on your smartphone using your mobile data to access a range of Alexa features.

Echo Auto is now available for pre-order. Echo Auto will be available in stores from June 10th, 2020.
