ASUS has just announced to us at StG that its personal computing and laptop gaming products won 20 Best Choice and 12 D & I (Design and Innovation) awards at ceremonies held during Computex 2017.
The Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA) collaborates with the International Forum Design (iF), a leading industrial design authority from Germany, to present the Computex D & I awards at the annual Computex trade show in Taipei. The awards recognise new products that exhibit outstanding design and innovative features. A jury consisting of the world’s top industrial designers evaluates the product submissions based on nine criteria, including aesthetics, innovation, usability, practicality and environmental impact.
The Best Choice Awards, established in 2002, are organised by Computex Taiwan and honour products that display excellence in innovation, functionality, and market potential.
First up is the ASUS Zenbo which won three awards at Computex 2017: Best Choice of the Year Award, Best Choice Golden Award, and Computex D & I Award. Zenbo is the first commercially available home robot designed to provide assistance, entertainment, and companionship to families.
ASUS Zenbo
Zenbo is a fun and educational playmate for kids, entertaining them with interactive storytelling and learning games that foster their creativity and logical thinking skills. As a hands-free household keeper, Zenbo enriches the home with a broad range of skills that make life easier and more enjoyable. He can control many smart home devices, assist in the kitchen by reading recipes out loud and function as a voice-controlled timer, serve as a family photographer with his built-in camera, and operate as a home security camera to give homeowners peace of mind when they are away.
Additionally, Zenbo helps senior family members safeguard their health and well-being by monitoring the home for emergency situations – such as falls – and immediately respond to them by notifying family members. During emergencies, Zenbo can assist through a feature, developed in collaboration with the National Police Agency in Taiwan, which enables families to contact their local police department and to speak with an officer using Zenbo’s built-in video calling. He also helps seniors enjoy a connected digital life by making it easy to accomplish online tasks, such as making video calls, using social media and shopping.
ASUS ZenBook Pro
