Rising DJ-producer’s Charlie Boon and Meg Ward kick off a massive year with club heater Turn Up The Bass (Pump It Up) via Virgin Music’s LG105 / Dad Bod Boogie.

From growing up above his dad’s nightclub in St Ives, Cornwall, to carving his own DJ-producer path in London, Charlie Boon  is now earning recognition and widespread praise for his high-energy anthems from the likes of Skream, TSHA, Eliza Rose, Jodie Harsh, and Danny Howard whilst garnering radio backing from BBC Introducing, BBC Radio 1 and even landing a Peak Time mix on Sarah Story’s Future Dance show.

Breaking through last year with debut LG105 single and certified Ibiza smash We Back, the follow up to Too Fly on Part Four, both featuring Caribbean queen Rileasa Slaves, saw Radio 1 Dance and Kiss Dance playlisting, consistent spins from Jack Saunders, Clara Amfo, Sarah Story, Danny Howard, Charlie Tee and Pete Tong, whilst landing a remix from the legendary Jodie Harsh.

With an infectious energy like no other, Charlie Boon has taken the live scene by storm this past year, performing across Glastonbury, Feel It, Boardmasters, Snowboxx, XOYO’s Pleasurehood, Nass Festival, and making his Ibiza debut. Meanwhile his own club night and label, Dad Bod Boogie, has sold out venues in London, Bristol, and Cornwall and maintains residencies at Bristol’s Motion and Plymouth’s The Depo with lineups featuring the likes of LF SYSTEM, Ewan McVicar, Folamour, Melé, Honeyluv, Elkka, and Meg Ward, who played a sold-out b2b with him at Bristol’s Crofters Rights earlier this year.

Now joining Charlie on their own collaboration, Meg Ward has lived up to the prophecy of BBC Music Introducing (North East)’s ‘Tips for 2021’ prediction, making waves over the last few years with rave-ready bangers steeped in acid house, electro, breakbeat, and electronica that have landed her slots at Creamfields, Warehouse Project and more. The DJ-producer has now found fans and support from Jaguar, Annie Mac, Danny Howard, Nemone, HAAi and Patrick Topping whilst delivering a showcase mix on BBC 6 Music and a mini mix on BBC Radio 1.

Charlie Boon and Meg Ward

With Charlie Boon returning to LG105 for 2023, the two breakthrough talents unite for upfront house anthem Turn Up The Bass (Pump It Up). Motivated by old school flavours, Charlie explains, “I started this track a while ago when I was listening to a lot of 90s dutch house and was really inspired by that sound of ravey fun energy that is perfect for the clubs. It’s a pleasure to also have Meg’s vocals on this track as her sick vocal style compliments the raw pumping vibe of the release.”

Featuring punchy chords and piercing percussion that underpin Meg Ward’s hypnotic vocal lines, Turn Up The Bass (Pump It Up) is brimming with peak time dance floor appeal. On track for his finest year yet, Charlie Boon’s collaboration with Meg Ward marks only the beginning, with upcoming headline shows in Bristol, Cornwall and Leeds, festival slots so far at Snowboxx and Boardmasters, and releases on Stress Records, Black Book, and LG105 still to come.
