South Auckland rappers TY, bKidd, a new signing to TY’s Empire label, and noted battle emcee Bench have joined forces to write and record, Champ in support of the upcoming, historic, Joseph Parker fight.

Parker’s quest to unify four of boxing’s World Championship belts begins with his fight with Anthony Joshua on April 1st, 2018 (NZST). The ‘Champ’ video has been released today with the song being available on all DSPs on March 30th, 2018.

Joseph Parker

Produced by Cody Wave, ‘Champ’ celebrates Parker’s rise to the top of the boxing world. The song has already received endorsement from Parker himself, providing his image for the song artwork and footage for use in the official video. “The song goes hard! It gets me amped. I’ve had it on repeat all through training” – says Parker.

The Empire team are keen to see New Zealander’s get behind Parker’s efforts. “Rising to the top of the boxing world from New Zealand is no mean feat” says TY. “It was a major deal when David Tua fought for a World Title against Lennox Lewis, and now Joseph Parker –already the current WBO Heavyweight champ – is in a position to unify four of boxing’s belts, with a possible chance to be the first man ever to do so if he’s successful in defeating Joshua and Deontay Wilder.” As bKidd puts it, “I kinda can’t believe Kiwi’s aren’t more excited about this. That’s why we wrote this, to show our support and respect for what Joseph’s done. This is a big deal man, and he needs the whole country behind him”.

bKidd

Supporting TY, bKidd, Bench and Cody Wave has been the team behind a new Auckland born strategy game, Four Kings One War and StaplesVR. Four Kings founder Glyn Leggett was eager to jump on board; “I’ve been a big fan of TY’s for a while, but when we talked about the song and what Parker’s looking to achieve, we drew parallels with our own journey to take on the world. Four Belts – One Champ! How could we not get on board?”
