PlayStation Plus is kicking off 2026 with a familiar but solid monthly line-up. Sony has confirmed the three free games coming to PlayStation Plus subscribers in January, with Need for Speed Unbound, Disney Epic Mickey: Rebrushed, and Core Keeper available to claim from January 6 through to February 2.

While December delivered five free games as part of a more generous holiday drop, January returns to the usual three-title format. Still, there is plenty here for racing fans, platformer lovers, and players who enjoy slower, more creative sandbox experiences.

When January’s PlayStation Plus Games Go Live

All three titles will be available to download starting Tuesday, January 6. Once claimed, they remain in your library permanently as long as your PlayStation Plus Essential, Extra, or Premium subscription stays active.

Players also have until Monday, January 5 to add December’s games to their library, which include Lego Horizon Adventures, Killing Floor 3, The Outlast Trials, Synduality Echo of Ada, and Neon White.

Need for Speed Unbound Brings High-Speed Racing To PS5

Leading the January line-up is Need for Speed Unbound on PS5. Developed by Criterion Games, this 2022 entry is the 25th instalment in the long-running racing franchise and stands out thanks to its bold cel-shaded visual style.

Set in the fictional Lakeshore City, Unbound features both single-player and multiplayer campaigns. Players race against the clock, dodge increasingly aggressive police chases, and compete in weekly qualifiers to earn a spot in The Grand, the game’s ultimate street racing challenge. Car customisation plays a huge role, letting players fine-tune performance and style while building their reputation on the streets.

Disney Epic Mickey: Rebrushed Revives A Disney Classic

Disney Epic Mickey: Rebrushed arrives on both PS4 and PS5, offering a modern remake of the 2010 platformer originally released on the Nintendo Wii. Players step into the role of Mickey Mouse and explore the Wasteland, a strange realm filled with forgotten Disney characters and abandoned ideas.

The game’s signature paint and thinner mechanics allow players to shape the world around them, restoring environments or altering them to uncover secrets. Rebrushed updates the visuals and gameplay to feel more at home on modern hardware, while retaining the charm that made the original stand out. The return of Oswald the Lucky Rabbit, Walt Disney’s first major character, remains a highlight for longtime fans.

Core Keeper Offers A Deep Sandbox Adventure

Rounding out the month is Core Keeper on PS4 and PS5, a mining sandbox adventure that supports between one and eight players. Set in a vast underground cavern, the game blends cosy farming elements with survival mechanics and exploration.

Players gather resources, craft tools, build bases, and gradually uncover the mysteries of the Core. Along the way, you can grow crops, fish in hidden waters, cook meals, raise animals, and take on powerful Titans. Core Keeper continues to receive free updates, including the upcoming Void & Voltage update later this month, making January a great time for new players to jump in.

Compared to December’s five-game haul, January’s PlayStation Plus offering is more low-key. However, it still delivers a strong mix of genres and play styles, with Core Keeper in particular standing out as a long-term time sink for solo and co-op players.
