Crimson Desert has sold more than 6 million copies worldwide, a figure Pearl Abyss reached just 83 days after the open-world action-adventure launched on 19 March 2026. Announced on 11 June, the milestone makes the new IP the best-selling Korean-developed single-player game on record, and US market researcher Circana ranks it No.2 in 2026 year-to-date video game sales in the United States. Pearl Abyss is backing the run with a steady stream of updates, upcoming cross-save support and confirmed DLC.

6 Million Copies in 83 Days

The trajectory has been steep from day one. Crimson Desert sold 2 million copies on launch day, passed 5 million in less than a month, and added more than a million since mid-April to reach 6 million at the 83-day mark. Pearl Abyss describes the result as an unprecedented sales milestone for a Korean-developed single-player game, and points to Circana data placing it second in year-to-date US video game sales for 2026. Chief executive Jin-young Heo tied the figure to the risk of launching an original property. “We are sincerely grateful to players around the world for helping Crimson Desert achieve meaningful success in the global market despite being a new IP,” he said in Pearl Abyss’s announcement. “To provide more enjoyable and better experiences, Pearl Abyss will continue moving forward and taking on new challenges.”

Pearl Abyss Thanks the Greymane Community

The studio also addressed players directly through the game’s official channels, leaning on the in-world language fans have adopted. “Your adventures and tales continue to make the journey of Crimson Desert even more special,” Pearl Abyss wrote. “Once again, thank you to every Greymane who has stepped into Pywel and experienced the world of Crimson Desert in their own way.” The game is available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC via Steam.

Near-Weekly Updates Since Launch

Pearl Abyss has shipped almost weekly updates since release, steadily expanding the game while improving core systems and addressing performance issues. New additions have included fresh mounts, new abilities for Oongka and Damian, mini-games such as Pinball and the Crane Game, and individual storage chests for different item types. That cadence is part of what has kept players engaged through the months that carried Crimson Desert from its 5 million milestone in April to 6 million in June.

Cross-Save, New Game Plus and DLC on the Way

A larger wave of content and feature updates is rolling out gradually from June through September. It covers story refinements, new combat content, cross-save support across PC, PlayStation and Xbox, and a range of quality-of-life improvements, with New Game Plus also among the planned additions. Pearl Abyss has confirmed that DLC is in development as well, though it has not yet shared details on cost, content or timing.

With cross-save and New Game Plus still to arrive across the June to September window and DLC confirmed but undated, Pearl Abyss has made clear it intends to keep building on Crimson Desert well beyond its record-setting opening run.
