JBL’s Tour Pro 2 TWS are Bluetooth paired ear buds that come with a smart charging case.
The buds themselves are a super snug fit and pack a total of 10 hours hours of ear bud life from a full charge. The case itself will see you right for an extra three full charges at 30 hours (this does vary).
If you use ANC (Active Noise Canceling) this does reduce the lifespan of both the case and ear buds by a few hours.
A quick 10 – 15 minute charge up will net you around 4 hours, and they are wireless chargeable too.
Having two 10mm drivers and three mics per bud (six in total) these small but mighty inner ear boom boxes really hit the right note and absolutely are the best bluetooth inner ear audio you can get at the time of writing.
JBL has always taken their stuff seriously, but with the JBL Tour Pro 2 TWS they’ve outdone themselves. On either side of the buds you have touch controls for music and hands free calling.
And while the HQ audio, high notes and deep rumble of bass, is super pleasing, as is the crystal clarity of voice calls, they do suffer from intermittent bluetooth connectivity drops.
And it happens often on both iOS and Android smart devices.
This said if using at home the connection is more stable than out in the wild. So my guess here is that the Tour Pro 2 TWS is super sensitive to interference.
The ANC is perfect and if you’re wanting to rock out while ordering a coffee or even having a convo, you can. The voice detection mode is on point.
Now for the difference factor, which is also the most strikingly obvious.
The JBL Tour Pro 2 TWS has a functional 1.45 inch touch screen at its front and this enables you to skip, play and pause your tracks. You can also tweak almost all audio settings, such as ANC, Spatial Audio, EQ and more without needing to get your phone out.
The JBL Tour Pro 2 TWS pairs it’s smart case settings to the JBL app, and while I do recommend getting the JBL app it can also work just as effectively without.
The smart case does have a slide lock to prevent accidental bumps and screen touches and after doing an update you can personalize the lock screen image.
The update for me was a no go though. Sadly did not work on multiple tries with the update failing every time. It is also this update that improves the bluetooth connectivity.
I’d been eagerly awaiting the release of the JBL Tour Pro 2 TWS since it was first announced last year, and placing the connection drops aside they are exactly the innovative difference that I was expecting. What was more surprising was the beefed up super HD quality of the audio they can produce.
If you’re looking for something a bit different, that has a price tag a lot lower than it should be and ear buds that will make your music streams sound the way they are meant to the JBL Tour Pro 2 TWS are the go to.
There’s nothing out there like them or can come close to the superior inner ear audio you’ll experience.
