Originally filling a need in the market a few years back, espresso displays have proved that a portable display needn’t be low quality.
Their pick-up-and-go 15 inch display is a no fuss one plug and play affair.
Recently for those that need just a little bit more screen real estate, espresso launched their new 17 inch portable display.
Super light at 1KG and wafer thin the 17 inch 4K screen has a ratio of 1080p with a refresh rate 60Hz. It also has 100% DCI-P3 colour range, that equals to 1 Billion colours. Need audio? No worries, the espresso 17 inch Display has got you sorted there too, with built-in speakers.
Providing your laptop has a Thunderbolt USB-C port you connect with the supplied cable and on both Windows and Mac it’s instant. And for Mac users they get the benefit of having a full touchscreen as the espresso 17 inch Portable Display is multi-point touch.
There’s two ports on the espresso 17 inch Portable Display, as we saw with the 15 inch equivalent. Either port will connect to your PC or Mac and act as a secondary screen, the additional port is for external power.
Now, to use the espresso 17 inch Portable Display from the box on a Mac or PC no additional power is required. It just works.
But if your PC has underpowered USB-C ports, or if you are going to connect it to a mobile device or tablet, you can either use the espresso battery pack, or an external USB-C power adaptor.
The battery pack is sold separately, and if you opt to use an external USB-C power adaptor, be mindful of the wattage. In my test, my laptop charger worked.
You’ll need the solid and sturdy magnetic display stand, and if you’re really keen to accessorise you can get the espresso pen and a screen paper-like covering to create like the content pro you are. downloading the espresso Flow software enables you to calibrate your screens as well as having an added feature called Jot. This turns your entire espresso Display in to a blank canvas.
The espresso Displays are top shelf gear for media viewing, content creation, gaming or work. They’ve recently broken out in to the retail market and you can get yourself one of these at select retail stores.
For me it ticks all boxes, it’s fantastic for gaming on the go as well.
