Being in it’s 54th year, the 2019 awards event was hosted by the legendary Jon Toogood (Shihad) and Laura Daniel with guest announcers including the New Zealand leader Jacinda Ardern.

It was a night of energetic live performances and a tribute to NZ Music icons Th’ Dudes having been inducted in to the country’s NZ Music Hall of Fame gaining the Legacy award.
Th’ Dudes w. Rikki Morris (standing in for the late Ian Morris) revived the bands notoriously catchy themes in a high adrenalin live performance that was the cherry on the entire evening.
The VNZMAs proves that New Zealand musicians are up there on par with international artists whilst still remaining to retain a signature kiwi flavour that resonates and impacts at home and around the world.
