Rainbow Six Siege appears to be crossing into entirely new territory. Ubisoft has released a short teaser strongly suggesting that Solid Snake is joining the game as a playable operator, marking the first time Siege has pulled a full operator from outside the Tom Clancy universe.

The 15-second clip ends with a clear date and time for the full reveal. Ubisoft will unveil the complete Year 11 roadmap on February 15 at 8am PT, during the next Siege Invitational in Paris.

A Codec Call No One Expected

The teaser opens with Sam Fisher speaking through a classic Metal Gear Solid-style Codec interface. His line, “Our window is closing. We only get one shot at this,” sets the tone before cutting to a neck-down shot of Solid Snake moving through smoke.

Rainbow Six Siege Solid Snake operator

While Snake never speaks, his silhouette is unmistakable. The sneaking suit closely resembles his Metal Gear Solid 2 look, and he is shown unholstering a SOCOM pistol, a signature weapon from the series. The visual language is deliberate and difficult to misinterpret.

First Non Tom Clancy Operator In Siege History

Cosmetic crossovers are nothing new for Siege, but this is different. If confirmed, Solid Snake would be the first fully playable operator not originating from the Tom Clancy universe.

That raises immediate questions about how Ubisoft plans to integrate him into Siege’s ongoing narrative, which has historically leaned on grounded counter-terrorism themes. Solid Snake’s pulpy, Cold War-era stealth legacy sits awkwardly next to Siege’s modern спец-ops tone, but Ubisoft has already pushed stylistic boundaries in recent years with increasingly bold skins and events.

How Could Solid Snake Play In Siege

From a gameplay perspective, the possibilities are wide open. Solid Snake’s history offers no shortage of potential gadgets and mechanics, including radar tools, directional audio equipment, thermal optics, or remote-controlled drones.

There is also curiosity around how faithful Ubisoft will be to Snake’s character. When Sam Fisher joined Siege in 2020 as Operator Zero, Ubisoft avoided directly branding him as “Sam Fisher” and gave him a gadget that felt only loosely tied to Splinter Cell. Fans are hoping Snake’s kit leans more directly into stealth, deception, and information control.

The community is already joking about one inevitable detail. Many are expecting a cardboard box reference to appear somewhere, whether as an emote, animation, or cosmetic flourish.

A Historic Stealth Crossover

If confirmed, Siege will become the first game to place Solid Snake and Sam Fisher on the same battlefield. Despite decades of playful rivalry between Metal Gear Solid and Splinter Cell, the two icons have never shared a playable space before.

Ubisoft will reveal the full scope of the crossover during the Year 11 presentation, including whether Solid Snake is a standalone operator or part of a broader collaboration package.
