Rockstar Games has confirmed that Grand Theft Auto 6 will cost $79.99 for the base edition and $99.99 for the Ultimate Edition when it launches on 19 November 2026 for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. The $80 base price pushes past the $70 standard that parent company Take-Two set with NBA 2K21 in 2020, making GTA 6 the most expensive single game at launch on the current console generation, though only by $10.

The pricing arrived on 24 June, a day ahead of pre-orders going live at midnight local time on 25 June. Rockstar describes the game as the biggest, most immersive evolution of the series yet, built around a single-player experience following dual protagonists Jason and Lucia.

GTA 6 Base and Ultimate Edition Prices

The $80 base figure lands below the $100 mark that analysts had long speculated Rockstar might charge, with some arguing the studio could have broken that taboo as development budgets balloon while game prices stay mostly flat. Instead, the base edition sits at $79.99, matching the price Nintendo set for Mario Kart World last year. GTA 6 becomes only the second major release to price its standard edition at $80.

EditionPriceIncludes
Base Edition$79.99Full single-player game plus pre-order bonuses
Ultimate Edition$99.99Base game, all pre-order bonuses, premium items, and five exclusive single-player stores

One factor weighing against an even higher price is the rising cost of the hardware itself. A new PS5 or Xbox Series X|S now starts at $600, a figure many players will face this autumn if they have not already upgraded during this console cycle.

GTA 6 Pre-Order Bonuses

Anyone who pre-orders any edition before 20 November receives the Vintage Vice City Pack, a collection of items themed around the neon-soaked 1980s era when Tommy Vercetti’s saga took place. Pre-ordering also unlocks preloading a full week early on 12 November. There is no early access window, so all players start at launch on 19 November.

The Vintage Vice City Pack contains a ’55 Vapid Stanier sedan with a Shore Court garage near Ocean Beach, period outfits and hairstyles for both Jason and Lucia, and a weapon pattern inspired by Tommy Vercetti’s palm tree button-up shirt.

The Ultimate Edition stacks its content across all aspects of Jason and Lucia’s story, with new items uncovered behind each chapter. It bundles premium vehicles, weapons, apparel, and two exclusive side missions on top of the base game and pre-order bonuses.

Five Single-Player Stores Locked to the Ultimate Edition

The most contentious part of the Ultimate Edition is a set of five single-player stores available only to buyers at the $100 tier. The shops range from vehicle modification to hair styling and tattooing, expanding GTA 6’s customisation options while walling them behind the higher price. Rockstar has made no mention of whether these stores appear in GTA Online.

StoreTypeWhat It Offers
Rideout CustomsMod ShopDetailed interiors, rims, and donk stylings to transform vehicles
Sara’s Unisex SalonHair SalonSignature styles for both leads, facial hair for Jason, makeup and nails for Lucia
Stock 305Clothing StoreElevated streetwear looks at Stockyard’s premier destination
Electric Fang TattooTattoo ShopOver 50 signature tattoos designed by artist collective FAILE
One-Eyed Willie’sMod ShopOff-road modifications and hand-painted automotive artistry in Lake Leonida

Critics note that locking customisation stores to single-player draws more scrutiny than it would in GTA Online, where players could show off their builds to rivals. In single-player, the flex extends only to the random pedestrians in the environment. The two physical editions add a further wrinkle, as boxed copies will not include a disc, just a download code.

What the Pricing Signals for GTA Online and the Industry

Take-Two’s press release frames the GTA+ subscription bundled into the package as the best way to get the most out of the ever-evolving world of GTA Online, with instant access to Grand Theft Auto 5 and other classic Rockstar titles through the GTA+ Games Library. The wording suggests a fresh version of GTA Online may not arrive immediately alongside GTA 6, echoing the staggered rollout that followed GTA 5.

The $80 figure sits at a deliberate middle point, high enough for Rockstar to bank tens of millions in additional revenue from the increase alone, yet low enough that it is unlikely to change many buying decisions for the most anticipated game in years. Whether the wider industry follows remains the open question. Xbox briefly moved some titles to $80 before reversing course, and no publisher has held that line since, leaving GTA 6 and Mario Kart World as the only two big releases at the price. Pre-orders open at midnight local time on 25 June, with preloading available from 12 November ahead of the 19 November launch.
