Following her appearance at Met Gala, GRAMMY-winning international pop sensation and critically-acclaimed songwriter Kim Petras has released the music video for her new single “Alone” (with Nicki Minaj) – out now via Republic Records / Amigo Records.

The steamy club banger features diamond-selling hip-hop icon, and one of Kim’s biggest inspirations, Nicki Minaj. The video sees the duo embodying a man’s ultimate fantasies to figure out how to finally get him all alone while making references to multiple club classics such as Eric Prydz’s “Call on Me,” Alex Gaudino’s “Destination Calabria,” and Fedde Le Grand’s “Put Your Hands Up For Detroit.”

“Alone” (with Nicki Minaj), which samples Alice Deejay’s eurodance megahit “Better Off Alone,” has racked up millions of streams and was featured on top playlists across Apple, Spotify, Amazon, and more.

Kim attended last night’s Met Gala as a guest of Marc Jacobs, paying homage to Karl Lagerfeld’s Chanel era with a look that incorporated Chanel’s Camellia flower and their classic black and white color palette, with a Chanel-inspired diamanté spin on Marc’s classic kiki boot.

Kim is also gearing up for festival appearances at Governor’s Ball in NYC this June, Osheaga in Montreal this August, Life is Beautiful in Las Vegas and The Town in São Paulo, Brazil this September.

She will also be performing at Hard Rock Live in Miami, Florida on May 19, presented by Sports Illustrated to celebrate the release of their annual swimsuit issue.

Kim is continuing a milestone year that began with her and Sam Smith’s LGBTQ history making GRAMMY win for Best Pop Duo / Group Performance for their #1 global, platinum smash hit “Unholy”– which just surpassed one billion streams. “Unholy,” which Kim co-wrote and performed with Sam on the GRAMMY Awards, Saturday Night Live, and the BRIT Awards, quickly became one of 2022’s top pop debuts. Kim also released her icy, beat-heavy bop “brrr,” which she performed on Late Night With Seth Meyers and at Billboard’s Women In Music event where she was honored with the Chartbreaker Award.

Recently Shane from STG was invited to see upcoming Persian x NZ (Kiwi) singer Chaii live at a small performance for JBL.

Chaii has exploded on to the New Zealand (NZ) music scene with a string of high energy singles which were sung on the night.

Shane got to have a chat with Chaii on her music career and aspirations for the future.

Shane: Hey Chaii, thanks for chatting with us! Can you tell us a bit about your background and how you got in to music

Chaii: I’m an Artist / producer from Auckland NZ. I got into music as a kid and have always had a passion for making music and being in the creative industry.

Shane: We have seen you perform live with JBL and it’s electric and super energy infused. It’s fantastic. How would you describe your music?

Chaii: Thank you 😊 I would describe my music as upbeat Persian party meets hiphop / R&B.

Shane: You’ve released a few singles over the past couple of years, is there an album coming?

Chaii: Yes, my last 2 releases were EP’s, but am currently working on an Album that I can’t wait to share.

Shane: What other music artists inspire you?

Chaii: Rosalia, Tierra Whack, Childish Gambino, J Cole, Doja Cat

Shane: What’s up next for Chaii?

Chaii: Album then touring. Keen to play more shows overseas and take the Album to all sides of the world.

Shane: Is there any advice you would give to upcoming music artists that are wanting to break in to the industry?

Chai: Make music you feel passionate making, don’t be scared to truly let go and find yourself through your music. Be patient and believe in your work!

Jamaican trailblazer Popcaan releases his glowing new single “Skeleton Cartier” on OVO Sound, weeks after Drake first teased the song on his Instagram.

The track, a mix of dancehall and nocturnal new wave, will be prominently featured in the upcoming campaign for Drake’s first official Nike x NOCTA shoe release and is the first single from Popcaan’s forthcoming album Great Is He.

Following 2020’s star-studded FIXTAPE, “Skeleton Cartier” shows Popcaan flexing his melodic muscle. His fluid flow rides the bass as he serenades a country full of women, counts his many blessings, and seeks to inspire the youth of his homeland. “This song is about how I was feeling after I ordered myself a Skeleton Cartier watch for my birthday,” he says. “This was possible because I put in the work. The aim is always to be richer — in more ways than one!”

Since his 2014 debut album, Where We Came From, Popcaan has indeed put in the work. That album and his 2018 follow-up, Forever, debuted at No. 2 on Billboard’s Top Reggae Albums. Following the release of his debut single “It Girl” earlier this year, emerging artist DeLorean Black is back with his latest offering “SALT XXXADDY”.

Transporting the listener into an eclectic blend of R&B, hip-hop and glimmering synth patterns, the Los Angeles based artist draws inspiration from this rich array of genres to create his sparkling soundscapes. Highlighting his diverse and unique artistry, DeLorean’s gentle and honeyed vocals dance across vibrant melodies and rhythms – an intoxicating deepdive into his world.

Pronounced ‘Salt Zaddy’, DeLorean explains the track as: “Begin[ning] with a simulation hopper traveling to an alternate universe that feels like the 1980s. Busta Rhymes has announced the official release date of his first album in eleven years, Extinction Level Event 2: The Wrath of God.

Rhymes enlisted Chris Rock to tease the initial announcement of the album, which is now available with exclusive, limited-edition merchandise that plays on the album’s theme of an Extinction Level Event with apparel, accessories, CD, Cassette, and Vinyl offerings.

For the announcement, Busta Rhymes revealed the album artwork created by world renowned contemporary artist Chanelle Rose. To coincide, Rhymes also included a new, riveting album trailer that not only plays up the album cover, but eerily teases some of E.L.E.’s thematic cornerstones.

With the first offering off of E.L.E. 2, Rhymes recruited legendary Jamaican recording artist Vybz Kartel for an epic alliance on “The Don & The Boss.”

Both the song and it’s video uniquely fuse dancehall and hip-hop, which is a hallmark of Busta’s storied career. New Zealand-via-Zimbabwe brothers eleven7four release the first half of their debut album, via Step 11 Records / Universal Music Group New Zealand.

Side 1 is led by the new single “T.H.U.G.” ft. Goon Des Garcons* (Tony Hawk’s Under Ground) which is inspired by pro skater and idol Tony Hawk.

“’What’s the 1174? (Side 1)’ is the soundtrack to one of the craziest nights of our lives, each song represents a different saga of the night from ‘Stupid Crazy’ where you let it all go for the sake of fun and laughter, to the invoking rebellious spirit of punk rock on ‘T.H.U.G.’,” the duo explained. “Every song on the album is about having fun, which represents us as people and artists. We want to experience all things fun in life and make it sound dope while doing so!”

Shingi and Muche Murare hail from Harare, Zimbabwe, moved to East Auckland, New Zealand 18 years ago. In a moment that could only be described as fate, Shingi and Muche bumped into Grammy-nominated songwriter Tayla Parx  (Ariana Grande, Khalid, Panic! At The Disco) at a summer festival last year in New Zealand, and instant chemistry formed. eleven7four traveled to the US for the first time to begin recording What’s The 1174? (Side 1). They co-wrote the pop/hip-hop 7-track album with Tayla Parx and recorded it at Grey Noise Studios in New York City. Tayla Parx is also featured on their song, “Where It Hurts” (feat. Tayla Parx) along with its music video, which they shot in Los Angeles.

The brothers describe their recording experience and their first time in the U.S., “A lot of people would never have thought we’d be in New York writing an album with Tayla Parx, one of the most talented artists/songwriters in the world,” Shingi and Muche said. “This song [“Where It Hurts” (feat. Tayla Parx)] is basically that journey for us, from the airport to the studio, being in New York for the first time, it was a sensory overload. The amount of people, the sounds, the lights, and it’s hard not to notice the crackhead on the sidewalk trying to sell you drugs & bootleg mixtapes. We got a taste of it all and loved every second, and we wanted to convey that in this song.”

LA based artist MESSY creates music which blurs the boundaries of contemporary pop.

Combining hip-hop beats and rich dancehall rhythms, his latest single “Out For Blood” is packed with mesmerising synth lines and an anthemic chorus. The track’s off-kilter beat embodies modern R&B and pop elements, whilst the producer’s emotionally warped vocals sing the all too familiar tune of a failed relationship that turned into an even harder breakup.

Discussing the track, MESSY explains: “‘Out For Blood’ is about a partnership that ended badly. The other person had a hard time letting it go and everything I said in the song is exactly what happened. They were pissed and had it out for me after that.”

MESSY started writing and producing music as a means to explore intrinsically human experiences of love, pain, and nostalgia, with his lyrics painting a vivid picture of his internal struggle to balance his energy and identity as a father and musician. “I wanna be the biggest artist in the world, plain and simple. My family has my back and we’re not stopping till we get there,” he concludes.
