Segway has launched the latest in its GT-Series into the New Zealand market.

The perfect combination of high speed, quality performance, and long-distance range makes the Segway GT-Series a thrill seeker’s dream.

Different performance modes offer the rider the option to choose their own riding experience, switching between Eco, Drive, Sport or Race mode to best suit the terrain.

In the GT2’s Race Mode, its lightning-fast acceleration from 0 to 48 kph in 3.9 seconds make this a real racing machine that offers the most exciting rides.

Paired with a modern and sophisticated look, the Segway GT1 and GT2 are high-performance kick-scooters that offer phenomenal off-road capability as well as a comfortable ride. Key features include hydraulic disc brakes, front and rear hydraulic suspensions, and Segway Dynamic Traction Control (SDTC). The all-new SDTC system allows torque adjustment between the two motors to increase traction on slippery roads for better performance and safety.

While both models offer different capabilities, they key difference to note is the ultra-powerful dual 1500W motors with a peak power output of 6000W that the GT2 model operates, allowing the GT2 to reach ultra-high speeds.

The GT2 also introduces the world’s first transparent PM OLED display, showing speed, motor power, battery life, range, drive mode and SDTC information.

Alongside the release of the Huawei GT3 comes a sports specific, track and field smart watch like never before. The GT Runner.

Packed with scientifically engineered Run based workouts the GT Runner is exactly what its namesake suggests.

Lighter than a lot of the smart wearables out there at only 36.5 grams the sports watch will help you train with its A.I. Coach, map out real world run tracks and build routines to have you sprinting about the neighbourhood like a track and field star.

Huawei have placed reliability and accuracy at the forefront of the GT Runner – placing an extended GPS antennae in to the the strap clip.

The GT Runner, on the face of it is similar to the GT3 – and for the most part has similar look and feel too, albeit lighter to wear.

The same tactile buttons on the right with similar functions too.

But the GT Runner is no watered down GT3, it’s a smart watch in a class of uniqueness.

Setting up the GT Runner is an interesting procedure. I covered this off in the GT3 review, that you can read here.

So to save reading time, I wont go in to it again, but to say once you’ve got yourself sorted via the Huawei Health app you’re ready to put your joggers on.

The GT Runner syncs via Bluetooth to either Android or iOS (Apple) and will track your vitals, such as heart rate and steps count in real time. The watch even records fat burning as you workout.

The smart watch has a ‘Running Ability Index’ and what this is, is a visualisation of your activity on your wrist in real time, giving comparisons to your overall goals.

If you feel that you’re not quite up for the heavy stuff just yet – set training goals and let the GT Runner be your personal coach with voice guidance.

If you’re keen to see your stats and achievements in more detail these are in the Huawei Health app.

Using the GT Runner is simple as. On the extremely popping and vivid AMOLED 46mm watch face it’s all swipe gesture to get to your stats, your media and more with the top right side dial taking you to the watch’s menu.

The bottom right button gets you in to workout modes.

Speaking of watch faces, you can customise these either by the watch touchscreen for any installed faces or via the Huawei Health app to install new ones.

You’ll get all of your notifications too. Without fail. Also you’ll never miss a call while your feet are beating the ground with handsfree calling via the watch’s built-in mic and speaker.

The GT Runner has builtin storage for you to transfer media too – that can be played back via bluetooth.

Best of all the GT Runner can go as far as you need it to and then some.

The battery life will last up to two weeks of consistent use before needing a full charge up on its magnetic charger.

This said I received both the GT3 and GT Runner watches from Huawei at the same time, so I had someone else who is a fitness freak wear the GT Runner.

With their three times a day workouts and active life the GT Runner has yet to need a charge up, after over two weeks.

Currently sitting at 37% battery at the time of writing, this is pure power wizardry.

The GT Runner is a first for Huawei. A sports wearable that is, well, specific to sports.

If you are someone who likes to put on sweatpants before the sun comes up or jogs a few blocks as the sunsets, or even a gym junkie, Huawei have designed the GT Runner for you.

Smart wearables have been around now for nearly 10 years.

Yup, how time has flown… Major phone manufacturers have complimented their high end devices with smart watches releasing around the time of the flagship smartphones launching to market.

Huawei, who are at the forefront of specs and innovation in the mobile industry are marching forward with their wearable tech, having just released their Huawei GT Smartwatch.

The 46mm watch runs on a proprietary Huawei OS (not Android Wear) and connects up via Bluetooth to their mid to high end smartphones, most notably, the newly released P30 Pro.

Required is the Huawei Health App in order to get things up and running.

I was honoured to receive a GT Watch with the release of the P30 Pro.

From the box, the watch had 60% life in it, so it was straight in to connection.

This was super simple. Once the Huawei Health App detects that there is a Huawei GT Smartwatch within its scope you pair it and you’re done.

The watch will record your fitness and daily activities, including sleep. The GT is specifically designed for health and not much more.

Going through the Health App you can view your stats – from the GT Smartwatch take regular heart rate checks, swipe left, right, up and down to access the various menus and settings.

Built into the GT Smartwatch is 14 differing watch faces, mostly all are designed for a primary function, Fitness, Weather, Outdoors and so on – but there’s also a couple that are premium looking faces without the Health and Workout clutter.

Two buttons feature on the right side of the GT Smartwatch. The top right one acts like a back button and the lower right takes you in to a very comprehensive menu. Here you can schedule your fitness regime, create a workout, run, walk or even swim.

The GT Smartwatch is waterproof up to 50 meters (not in salt water though).

You can receive all of your usual notifications as you would expect from a smart wearable; Emails, SMS, Calls and if you opt to turn it on, Social Media and / or anyother App on your phone.

You cannot make and receive calls on the GT Smartwatch though. There is no internal microphone but you do get an internal GPS.

The GT Smartwatch also does not have any built in storage either, so you will not be able to add music files or such the like to it and leave the phone at home when you go for a run.

The Huawei GT Smartwatch is ultimately a fitness assistant and has one clear and superb advancement over any of its competitors… a whopping two week battery life.

Yep, for the moderate user, you no longer need to try and remember to place your watch on its charger before you go to bed. Wear it, always for almost a month, charge it up (which generally takes just under an hour) and go.

I’ve been wearing the GT for a few days now – I receive a lot of notifications and calls both daily and nightly. From the 60% juice that it had from when I received it until now it’s sitting at 57%.

That’s three and a half days of busy use. Magic.

The GT Smartwatch is a beast. It just keeps going. Huawei are slowly but surely getting us to that ever-lasting battery.

The strap that comes with it is a soft rubber and is interchangeable.

The Huawei GT Smartwatch is the first wearable from Huawei since the release of the first Huawei Smartwatch back in 2014, to release down-under.

An ideal accessory for those that do regularly work out, have a fitness regime, or those that just want an easy-to-use, simplistic, no fuss yet functional device that’s not going to run flat before you do.
