Falcons won IEM Cologne Major 2026 on 21 June, sweeping FURIA 3-0 in the grand final to claim the organisation’s first Counter-Strike Major title. The win ended Nikola “NiKo” Kovač’s long wait for a Major trophy in his 17th attempt, and handed Ilya “m0NESY” Osipov the first Major of his career. Finn “karrigan” Andersen, who joined Falcons in April 2026, captured his second.

The Saudi organisation dominated the best-of-five from the opening map, taking Mirage, Anubis, and Inferno by an identical 13-8 scoreline against a FURIA side that had arrived in the final unbeaten through the playoffs.
Falcons Sweep FURIA 3-0 In The Grand Final
The series opened on Mirage, FURIA’s map pick, where Falcons recovered from an early stranglehold to close out a 13-8 win. FURIA had trailed 0-8 before planting the bomb for the first time, then took the last four rounds of the half to keep the map alive, but Falcons reasserted control after the break and reached map point before finishing it off.
Anubis followed the same script. m0NESY kick-started a 4-0 run with a Dualies 4K in the pistol round, and although FURIA controlled the middle of the half, kyousuke and m0NESY combined for 22 frags as Falcons overran the Brazilians in an 8-1 run on the T side to take it 13-8.
Inferno, also picked by FURIA, proved no different. NiKo and kyousuke Lukin combined for 33 frags to carry the team across the line, with Falcons holding a commanding lead on the CT side and closing out a third straight 13-8 map to complete the clean sweep.
NiKo Lifts His First Major Trophy In His 17th Attempt
More than a decade on from his first Major appearance, NiKo finally left the “best players never to win a Major” club behind. The Bosnian rifler delivered the standout performance of the final, recording 52 kills and a 1.43 rating across the three maps.
“I don’t know what to say,” NiKo said after the match as the crowd chanted his nickname. “It definitely was worth the wait. I think I’m the prime example; never give up. Never give up on your dreams, on your life. Keep believing. You’re going to achieve things. It’s going to be hard. It’s going to be painful. But you will get it.”

He added that he could not explain how happy and relieved he felt. NiKo’s arrival at Falcons in January 2025 marked a turning point for the Saudi organisation, which spared no effort building a championship contender. More superstars followed, but the team endured a string of painful runner-up finishes that the community ridiculed each time, before the title run in Cologne turned those near-misses into a first Major.
m0NESY And kyousuke Power The Falcons Firepower
m0NESY was named the IEM Cologne Major 2026 MVP, edging NiKo and kyousuke for the award after the three finished level on seven map awards each.

His tournament-wide rating of 1.25 and 1.10 KPRW broke the tie. The first two maps of the final were decorated by imperious performances from the Russian sniper, who posted a 1.80 rating and a +10.13% round swing across Mirage and Anubis. He finished the final with 46 kills and a 1.31 rating, claiming the first Major trophy of his career alongside NiKo.
kyousuke matched that firepower, top-fragging the series with 55 kills, a 1.34 rating, and a series-high 93.0 ADR. For FURIA, molodoy was the standout in defeat with 51 kills and a 1.26 rating, but no other FURIA player cleared a 1.00 rating as the Brazilian side’s firepower was outmatched across all three maps.
Falcons’ Road To The Cologne Title
Falcons opened Stage 3 with wins over G2 and Monte before a setback against BetBoom, then eliminated Natus Vincere in the 3-1 match to reach the playoffs. Inside the LANXESS Arena they beat Vitality in the quarterfinals and edged Spirit in the semifinals before sweeping FURIA in the final. FURIA’s run included victories over MOUZ and B8 in Stage 3, followed by playoff wins against Aurora and 9z to reach their first Major final.
karrigan’s surprise addition in April 2026, after a failed Cologne qualifying campaign with FaZe, gave the superstar squad its missing edge. The move was his first team change since joining FaZe in 2021, and two months later he captained his new roster to a Major championship, the second of his career after PGL Major Antwerp 2022.
“It’s a dream come true,” karrigan said. “This is the hardest route I’ve had to winning a Major. I’m so proud of the boys. They played so well.”
Cologne Rewrites Counter-Strike Viewership Records
The grand final drew more than 2.76 million peak viewers to become the most-watched match in Counter-Strike history. IEM Cologne Major 2026 finished as the biggest tournament the discipline has ever seen across all three headline metrics tracked by Esports Charts, setting all-time records for peak viewers, average viewers, and hours watched.

The event became the first Counter-Strike tournament to surpass 100 million hours watched, clearing a nine-digit watch-time total for the first time in the discipline’s history. The previous record stood at just over 76 million hours watched, while the peak viewership figure broke a concurrent-viewership benchmark that had stood since PGL Major Stockholm 2021.
What Falcons’ First Major Means Going Forward
The title is the biggest in Falcons’ history and establishes the roster as one of the dominant forces in Counter-Strike after eighteen months of building around NiKo. For m0NESY and kyousuke, both early in their careers, the Major adds to a fast-growing trophy haul, while karrigan now holds two Major titles across his time with FaZe and Falcons. FURIA leave Cologne with silver medals but a deep run that confirmed the Brazilian side can again contend for the sport’s biggest trophies.
