It has taken eight long years and 38 attempts, but FURIA have finally claimed their first-ever Big Event title. The Brazilian organisation triumphed at FISSURE Playground 2 in Belgrade, taking down The MongolZ in a nail-biting Grand Final that stretched nearly six hours and went the full five maps.

The 3-2 victory marks a massive milestone for FURIA, who had only once reached a Big Event final before, back at the ECS Season 7 Finals in London in 2019. This time, they broke the curse in emphatic fashion.
A Marathon Final Against The MongolZ
The Grand Final was a rollercoaster from start to finish. The MongolZ came out swinging on Mirage, but FURIA clawed their way back in overtime thanks to Danil “molodoy” Golubenko and Mareks “YEKINDAR” Gaļinskis, whose combined firepower proved unstoppable.
Inferno then swung the other way as 19-year-old Azbayar “Senzu” Munkhbold produced a pistol ace and crucial clutches to level the series. FURIA responded with a strong showing on Nuke, building a 12-3 lead before closing it out in overtime with Gabriel “FalleN” Toledo rolling back the years with vintage plays.
The MongolZ kept the fight alive on Overpass, capitalising on scrappy mid-round mistakes to edge another map and push the series to a decider. But Dust2 was all FURIA. After an early scare, the Brazilians locked down their CT side to seal the win 13-7 and with it, the long-awaited Big Event trophy.
molodoy Takes MVP Honours
Molodoy was the star of the tournament, finishing with a team-high 1.19 rating to claim his first MVP medal. His impact in high-pressure rounds, alongside YEKINDAR’s aggressive site entries, proved the difference throughout the Grand Final.
I just won my first tournament – FISSURE Playground2 in Belgrade with my team FURIA! 🏆
Got MVP as well – feels unreal! 🔥
I want to say a HUGE thanks to my team and everyone who supported me.

After the victory, a visibly emotional Yuri “yuurih” Santos reflected on the journey. “KSCERATO and I have been trying for years,” he said. “Being here and finally winning a tournament… I have no words.”
A Turnaround Story
The win caps off an incredible turnaround for FURIA, who made the bold move to go international just five months ago. The decision paid off, as their mix of Brazilian experience and international firepower carried them past some of the best teams in the world, including BLAST Open London champions G2 and hometown favourites Falcons.
Alongside the trophy, FURIA also earned valuable Valve Regional Standings (VRS) points, securing their place at the upcoming StarLadder Budapest Major in November.
FISSURE’s Growing Legacy
FISSURE has quickly established itself as a premier Counter-Strike 2 tournament organiser since its debut in 2022. The Belgrade event not only delivered one of the closest series of the season, but also confirmed its spot as a key stop on the CS2 calendar. The next edition, FISSURE Playground 3, is already set for April 2026 in Shenzhen, China.
For FURIA, though, the focus will be on building from this breakthrough. After years of heartbreak, the Brazilians finally know what it feels like to lift a Big Event trophy — and they’ll be hungry for more.
