Esports Charts has introduced a new Media Value metric, giving fans, teams and sponsors free access to a standardised measure of how valuable esports tournaments could be for brand partnerships. The tool is now live across thousands of tournament pages on the platform.

The metric estimates the sponsorship potential of an event by calculating the market cost of a standardised 1% on-screen banner shown for the duration of a broadcast. It factors in viewership numbers, broadcast length, average advertising costs, and regional differences in CPMs (cost per thousand impressions).

According to Esports Charts Product Manager Viktor Proniakin, making Media Value public is a step forward for industry transparency. “For the first time, anyone can quickly see a clear, comparable benchmark for tournament sponsorship potential across regions. Our goal is to help the industry understand market dynamics more easily and make smarter commercial decisions, while still offering deeper, tailored insights for clients who need them,” he explained.

A Transparent Benchmark for Esports Sponsorships

Media Value is designed to act as a baseline rather than a full sponsorship valuation. While it provides a clear snapshot of broadcast inventory potential, it doesn’t account for factors like VOD replays, on-site activations, influencer partnerships or in-game placements. Still, it offers a practical way for organisers, brands, and even fans to gauge a tournament’s commercial strength.

Esports Charts shared an example with The International 2024. Across 23 broadcast languages, the tournament generated a Media Value of more than $23m USD. However, the numbers varied heavily depending on language and region. Indonesian streams brought in around $40,000, while Spanish broadcasts reached over $183,000. The figures highlight just how much regional audiences can influence a tournament’s sponsorship potential.

Easily Accessible to Everyone

The new feature is available at the top of every tournament page on Esports Charts. Users can search for major events such as:

  • 2024 League of Legends World Championship – the highest Media Value of any esports tournament.

  • 2022 League of Legends World Championship – the highest Media Value of any North American esports event.

Esports Charts Expands Its Data Reach

The launch follows a busy year for Esports Charts. Earlier in September, the analytics platform partnered with GG.BET to introduce Esports Map, an interactive tool showing global tournament popularity. It was also named the official analytics partner for StarLadder StarSeries Season 19 Counter-Strike 2, and extended its data support for FURIA Esports through to 2027.

The platform has even branched into gaming collaborations, teaming up with GeoGuesser to deliver esports viewership data in a unique interactive format.

With Media Value now freely available, Esports Charts has taken another big step in shaping how the esports ecosystem measures and understands its commercial potential.
