The announcement was made through the game’s official X account, where SNK teased that more information is coming soon, encouraging players to stay tuned as the new season approaches.
Many in the FGC believe Season 2 could get its first full trailer during The Game Awards 2025, happening on 11 December, although SNK has yet to confirm this.
A Strong First Season Sets the Stage
Season 1 offered a surprisingly varied mix of characters, featuring:
- Andy Bogard
- Ken Masters (Street Fighter)
- Joe Higashi
- Chun Li (Street Fighter)
- Mr. BIG
The game has been steadily building momentum despite competing with heavy hitters like Tekken 8, Street Fighter 6, and Guilty Gear Strive. With SNK officially confirming Season 2, it appears City of the Wolves has found a solid enough player base to support further development.
What We Know About Season 2 So Far
Right now, details for Season 2 are deliberately vague. SNK has not revealed any gameplay footage or confirmed the new fighters, but we already know the long term plan thanks to Producer Yasuyuki Oda, who told 4Gamer ahead of launch:
“For the launch, we’ll have 17 characters and with the downloadable content after we’re adding five more, so for Season 1 there will be a total of 22 characters. As of right now, we have plans as far as a Season 3.”
This confirms that new DLC fighters are guaranteed, and Season 2 will be an important stepping stone toward an even larger final roster.
Who Could Join the Roster?
The community is already deep in speculation, and a few names are constantly surfacing based on story hints and past appearances.
Gao
Gato’s father is referenced in several character endings and shares his reputation for blisteringly fast kicks and aggressive play. If he joins the roster, players can expect a high pressure, aerial heavy fighter.
Blue Mary
A fan favourite and long time presence in SNK titles, Blue Mary’s signature rushdown style, fast hops, and tricky mixups would bring a lot of energy to Season 2.
Kim Jae Hoon
Carrying on his father’s legacy, Jae Hoon combines Taekwondo with fiery effects on certain attacks, making him one of the more visually striking potential candidates.
Duck King
Known for his dance heavy, unpredictable rushdown, Duck King could add a fun and chaotic twist to the roster.
There is also discussion around avoiding more guest fighters, as some players want Season 2 to focus purely on Fatal Fury and SNK legends, following the crossover heavy first season.
SNK Promises More Reveals Soon
While it’s still early, Season 2 arriving in January means SNK will likely reveal a trailer, key artwork, and at least the first DLC fighter before the end of December. City of the Wolves already surprised players with its Season 1 lineup, so expectations are high for another round of nostalgic and exciting additions.
As always, fans can expect fast paced gameplay updates, balance tweaks, and possibly new systems as Season 2 launches.
Final Thoughts
Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves has quietly become one of the most interesting fighting games to follow in 2025. SNK’s decision to greenlight a second season, and even hint at a third, shows real confidence in its future.
With new fighters looming and more announcements just around the corner, the next chapter for City of the Wolves is shaping up to be a big one.
