Gamers and athletes could soon be getting a better night’s rest thanks to a new piece of sleep technology. Cambridge Sleep Sciences (CSS) has unveiled the Tech Co Performance Pillow, a recovery-focused pillow designed to improve sleep quality and boost performance both in esports and traditional sport.
The product was officially launched at the Dubai Esports Arena, developed in partnership with performance consultancy Achieveminds, health tech company Ultrahuman, and UK-based recovery solutions provider Tech Co Group Ltd.
Sleep as a Competitive Edge
Founded by former EXCEL Esports sports psychologist Fabian Broich, Achieveminds has been at the forefront of pushing recovery in esports. Broich summed up the philosophy behind the new pillow: “Players don’t just win in the arena; they win in recovery. With the Performance Pillow we’re turning sleep into a trainable edge.”
The pillow itself is powered by CSS’s SleepEngine™, an audio-based system designed to retrain the brain into healthier sleep patterns. The aim is to help users fall asleep more easily, stay asleep longer, and ultimately feel more rested.

Integration with Smart Wearables
What sets the Tech Co Performance Pillow apart from a regular ergonomic pillow is its compatibility with the Ultrahuman Ring AIR. The smart ring tracks sleep data such as REM cycles and wake time, then allows the pillow to adjust its programme accordingly.
According to CSS trial results, participants using the pillow with the Ring AIR recorded a 28% increase in REM sleep and a 31% reduction in awake time, with overall sleep efficiency improving. Self-reported surveys also backed up the data, showing users felt more rested and recovered.
The pillow comes with a ring sizing kit to make setup simple, though it’s worth noting the investment isn’t small. The Ultrahuman Ring AIR is priced at around $349 (£255), while the Tech Co Performance Pillow itself costs £499.
Designed for Recovery and Comfort
Beyond the tech, the pillow has been engineered for performance with a contoured build to support head and cervical alignment, accommodating various sleeping positions common among both athletes and late-night gamers.

Shakeel Baig, Founder and CEO of Tech Co, highlighted the importance of combining technology with physical design: “By combining CSS’s proven SleepEngine with insights from Ultrahuman Ring AIR, we can deliver smarter rest that adapts to the demands of esports scrims, tournaments and intensive training blocks.”
A Growing Focus on Gamer Health
The launch of the Performance Pillow reflects a wider trend of esports organisations and health companies collaborating to support player wellbeing. From Cloud9’s recent partnership with Mueller Esports Medicine to BIG’s men’s health campaign with L’Oréal Men Expert, the intersection of gaming and health is becoming a serious industry focus.
With the Tech Co Performance Pillow now available for pre-order via its official website, CSS is betting on sleep technology becoming a vital part of both athlete and gamer performance in the years ahead.
