‘You snore’. ‘No, you do’. Find out who snores and who is the loudest with Google’s newest smart home device, the Google Nest Hub.

The always ready to inform you smartdevice has, among it’s many features, sleep tracking. The first smart-home table top assistant to feature this.

While it is based on a subscription model, the sleep tracking will learn you’re night night routines, as in when you usually go to bed, and switch on keeping a virtual ear out for coughing, sleep talking and yes, snoring.

Via what it hears it will aim to determine whether you’re having a sound sleep or an unrestful one. The Google Nest Hub will also advise better ways of getting sleep and whether you should be sleeping longer.

If you’re worried about privacy the sleep tracking and any monitoring can be turned off completely.

The 10 inch near all-screen smart assistant is designed to integrate within your home décor.

With a built-in proximity sensor, it will welcome you as you get near and give you a run down at a quick glance of anything that maybe of relevance to you. News, weather, music and more.

You can Integrate it with Spotify and if you’re an Android user then it’s a seamless ecosystem.

Google will take learnings from your Android smartphone, understand your habits, likes, dislikes and travels advising you on the Nest Hub of new goodness, better travel routes and more.

As with Google’s smart assistant on Android phones, speaking ‘Hey Google’ will see you perform via voice pretty much anything.

From web searches, playing music, streaming media through to controlling any of you other set up smart home devices, such as smart lights or appliances.

The Google Nest Hub setup is mostly straight forward. Via Android app Google Home (or Google app on iOS) it will automatically be detected and will generally use the information already on your phone to set itself up.

That said I’ve never had a full seamless setup with a Google smart home device and it usually fails a complete setup first, sometimes second time around.

But we got there – and Google’s Nest Hub took pride and place beside my bed.

Having that larger touch screen also means that if you opt to place the Google Nest Hub in another room, say, the kitchen, then at a command of ‘Hey Google, show how to make lasagna on YouTube’ you’re going to get a few vids come up that will help you make pasta like a pro.

Google has produced something you didn’t know you needed until you have it with their Nest Hub.

A big and bold interactive screen, instant results on voice commands, keeping your health and wellbeing in-check and a smart home device that seems to know you aswell as you know yourself.

Google Nest Hub is your one stop smart-home device.

In a recent press conference Google revealed to us here at STG their second-gen Nest Hub, the centre-piece of your helpful smart-home.

Stay entertained with shows, videos and music and control your compatible smart devices with a tap or your voice.

The new Nest Hub has rich sound to fill any room with music, podcasts and audiobooks from services like YouTube Music and Spotify. Just ask Google to play your favourite shows and movies on Netflix, YouTube and Disney+. Catch up on sports highlights on YouTube and find how-to videos on just about anything. With Quick Gestures, you can pause or play content at any time by tapping the air in front of your display.

The new Nest Hub shows all your compatible connected devices in one place so you can control them with one tap. And with a built-in Thread radio, Nest Hub will work with the new connectivity standard being created by the Project Connected Home over IP working group, making it even simpler to control your connected home.

Nest Hub is also full of help for your busy home. See your calendar, set timers and create reminders so everyone stays on track. Just say, “Hey Google, broadcast it’s dinnertime” and everyone will hear it on your Nest speakers around the house. Ask Google about the weather or almost anything.

The Nest Hub has always helped you tackle the day; now, it can help you rest well at night. Many of us don’t get enough sleep, which is becoming the number one concern for adults when it comes to health and wellness.

As people have started to recognise the need for better sleep, sleep trackers have continued to become a popular solution. Google wanted to offer an alternative way for people who may not want to wear something to bed to understand their sleep.

Google dug into the data, and because they also knew people felt comfortable with Nest Hub at their bedsides thanks to its camera-free design, they went to work. The result is Sleep Sensing, an opt-in feature to help you understand and improve your sleep — and is available as a free preview until next year (2022).

Sleep Sensing is completely optional with privacy safeguards in place so you’re in control.

You choose if you want to enable it and there’s a visual indicator on the display to let you know when it’s on. Motion Sense only detects motion, not specific bodies or faces, and your coughing and snoring audio data is only processed on the device — it isn’t sent to Google servers.

You have multiple controls to disable Sleep Sensing features, including a hardware switch that physically disables the microphone. You can review or delete your sleep data at any time, and consistent with our privacy commitments, it isn’t used for personalised ads.

Even if you choose not to enable Sleep Sensing, you can still fall asleep and wake up easier with Nest Hub.

The display dims to make your bedroom more sleep-friendly, and the “Your evening” page helps you wind down at night with relaxing sounds. When it’s time to wake up, Nest Hub’s Sunrise Alarm gradually brightens the display and increases the alarm volume. If you need a few more ZZZs, use Motion Sense to wave your hand and snooze the alarm.

The new Nest Hub will be available in two colours, to complement most rooms in the house, chalk and charcoal.

It features an edgeless glass display that’s easy to clean and makes your Nest Hub an even more beautiful digital photo frame. And continuing their commitment to sustainability, Nest Hub is designed with recycled materials with its plastic mechanical parts containing 54% post-consumer plastic.

The second-generation Nest Hub will be available from the 5th of May 2021.
