Thousands of players have been left locked out of their worlds after a major outage hit Minecraft Realms, with Bedrock Edition and Java Edition users reporting widespread connection and loading issues throughout Saturday.

The disruption has affected players across PC, console, and mobile platforms, sparking frustration on social media and a surge of reports on outage tracking sites as many struggled to access paid Realms servers.

What Is Happening With Minecraft Realms

The issue centred on Minecraft Java and Bedrock Realms, where players reported being unable to load their worlds or connect to multiplayer servers for hours at a time. According to DownDetector, reports began climbing sharply around 12:00 pm EDT, with complaints peaking at over 4,000 reports during the worst period of the outage.

Most players cited long loading times, failed server connections, and timeouts when attempting to join Realms, including cross platform sessions between PC and mobile users.

As the outage dragged on, frustrated players took to DownDetector and social platforms to vent.

Others described repeated timeout errors, especially when trying to play with friends on different devices. Some players also suggested the outage could be linked to a recent update, noting that a few users appeared to regain access while others remained locked out.

The timing has been particularly painful for paying subscribers, with one user pointing out the frustration of paying a monthly fee only to lose access over the weekend, when many players finally have time to play.

Has Mojang Or Minecraft Responded

As of publication, Minecraft has not released an official statement explaining the cause of the outage or providing a clear timeline for when full service will be restored. No maintenance notice or update has been shared publicly, leaving players reliant on community reports and third party tracking tools for updates.

Until an official update is released, players are advised to keep an eye on server status pages and social channels, and to retry connecting periodically as services appear to be gradually stabilising.

Minecraft Live 2025 has wrapped up, and Mojang came loaded with announcements that will keep players busy well into next year. From a release date for The Copper Age update to the reveal of Mounts of Mayhem, plus fresh add-ons and even a Dragon Ball Z crossover, there’s a lot for fans to get excited about.

The Copper Age arrives on 30 September

The biggest headline from the show was confirmation that The Copper Age officially drops on 30 September. This update expands copper far beyond its current uses, giving players access to new weapons, tools, armour, and blocks.

A new friendly mob, the copper golem, is also joining the game. These little helpers can tidy up bases by sorting items into chests, and when fully oxidised they’ll turn into statues with special poses. Other additions include shelves that can swap items in and out of your hotbar, oxidising lightning rods, copper lanterns and torches, and even copper armour for both players and horses.

Much of this content has been tested through Snapshots and Previews, but now every Minecraft player will have access to it at launch.

Mounts of Mayhem teased for holiday 2025

Mojang also lifted the curtain on Minecraft’s fourth game drop of the year, Mounts of Mayhem, coming this holiday season. This update will introduce the nautilus, a rideable underwater creature that grants faster swimming and even pauses your breath meter while you explore the depths. You’ll also be able to equip the nautilus with armour in copper, iron, gold, diamond, and netherite.

A new weapon, the spear, is being added too. It’s a tiered weapon with unique mechanics, including charge attacks and damage that scales with movement speed. Mojang hopes it will shake up Minecraft combat, especially when paired with mounts.

Other features include zombie horses making their long-awaited debut in Survival mode, plus the terrifying zombie nautilus ridden by drowned mobs.

Friendly Fishing brings real-world impact

In collaboration with Conservation International, Mojang has released a new Marketplace add-on called Friendly Fishing. The pack lets players catch a huge variety of fish, from sharks to smaller species, while also raising awareness about plastic waste in oceans. Proceeds from the add-on, along with an extra $100,000 from Microsoft, will be donated to Conservation International to support environmental conservation projects.

Dragon Ball Z x Minecraft

For anime fans, Minecraft is crossing over with Dragon Ball Z later this year. The DLC promises iconic content from the legendary series, from Spirit Bombs to Kamehamehas. While players wait, a free Super Saiyan Hair item is available now in the Minecraft Marketplace until 4 November.

Millions of Minecraft gamers across the globe will get to experience their self-created worlds more vividly than ever before when Minecraft with RTX moves to open beta on Windows 10 this week and introduces realistic shadows, lighting and vibrant colours to the best-selling videogame of all time.

“We teamed up with Mojang Studios to bring next-generation ray tracing and AI to Minecraft and the results are truly amazing,” said Jeff Fisher, senior vice president of gaming at NVIDIA. “There is a ton of excitement from the community for Minecraft with RTX, and we can’t wait to see what they create.”

On Thursday, at 10 a.m. Pacific time, Minecraft players on Windows 10 can download the beta of the highly anticipated free game update, unleashing a next-generation graphical makeover that includes real-time ray tracing, more realistic materials and NVIDIA DLSS 2.0.

NVIDIA will also give players six new Minecraft worlds to download for free from the Minecraft Marketplace, allowing them to experience what is possible in Minecraft when real-time ray tracing is applied.

“The next big evolution for Minecraft has arrived with Minecraft with RTX,” said Saxs Persson, franchise creative director of Minecraft at Microsoft. “The core of regular Minecraft is building with blocks. GeForce RTX GPUs transform the Minecraft world with a dramatically more realistic look by adding life-like lighting effects, shadows, reflections, refraction and more to the builder’s tool kit.”

Together, NVIDIA, Microsoft and Mojang Studios, the developer of Minecraft, have added a form of ray tracing known as path tracing for the Windows 10 version of the game. Path tracing simulates the way light is transported throughout a scene. It presents a unified model for lighting calculations for many different types of effects that have traditionally been implemented separately using rasterized or hybrid renderers.

Ray tracing was added to Minecraft using the industry-standard Microsoft DirectX 12 Ultimate API. NVIDIA GeForce RTXTM GPUs are the only GPUs with dedicated ray-tracing cores that allow games to be ray traced in real time.

In a match made in block-shaped heaven, Nintendo is partnering with Mojang and Microsoft to bring the imaginative worlds of the Super Mario and Minecraft series together. On May 18th, 2016 in Australia and New Zealand, the Super Mario Mash-Up Pack comes exclusively to Minecraft: Wii U Edition as a free game update.

For the first time ever, players will be able to fend off blocky Hammer Bros. and Dry Bones the same way they do Creepers and Zombies.

After downloading the update, players who own the Minecraft: Wii U Edition digital game which launched last December will have immediate access to new skins, a Super Mario-themed pre-made world, and a set of Super Mario-themed music and item textures, all inspired by games in the iconic Super Mario series such as Super Mario World, Super Mario 64 and Super Mario Sunshine.

The Wii U version of Minecraft features the full game, as well as many of the most popular previously released content packs. Downloading the Super Mario Mash-Up Pack gives players 40 new Super Mario-themed skins, which transform the game’s characters into familiar heroes like Mario, Luigi and Princess Peach, and even troublemakers like Bowser, Wario and all seven of Bowser’s minions.
