Your home cinema has never sounded or looked this good.

Harman Kardon audio is top shelf stuff, and their top-of-the-line Citation Multibeam 1100 Soundbar is definitely no exception to this rule.

Larger than I expected, you will need a decent length TV cabinet to accommodate the 1150 x 65 x 130mm (WxHxD) footprint this beast will take, and it’s a heavy beast at 4.6kg.

Speaker outputs are found on either side and the sockets for power, HDMI passthrough and ethernet are located at the back.

But it is under the fine dark grey mesh fabric covering where the magic is held.

The Citation Multibeam 1100 has 11 drivers built-in to produce an almost other-worldly audio experience in a true 3D soundscape.

Dedicated firing up channels ensure that you get an ultimate 360 sound experience. And you absolutely do.

From the box the setup is real easy. It’s almost plug or wirelessly connect and play.

You can opt to stream via Bluetooth, doing this your audio experience will vary. From an Android device audio was amazing, but from iOS (Apple) sounded a bit flat for media streaming, until the iOS device played a Lossless track from the Apple store. Then it got really impressive.

Audio output always reflects your source.

Gaming and media streaming (Netflix, Disney+, Prime) put my current (and now aging) 7.2 Muteki Surround system to shame.

Using Multibeam technology the Citation Multibeam 1100 will scan its surroundings upon first set up, discovering which in-built speakers to use, where obstacles are that may cause an audio barrier and tweak itself for the optimal audio output based on your environment.

There’s a small touchscreen on top of the Soundbar. This will assist you with your first set up as well as general audio controls and audio settings.

If you have the Citation Sub, this Soundbar will seamlessly and of course wirelessly pair. Unfortunately, I did not receive the Sub for this review.

This said, the Soundbar itself produces HQ Dolby Atmos audio and manages to put out a rumble all on its own.

Loud? Yep. The Citation Multibeam 1100 can rattle a few windows. Perfect for gaming and immersive cinema-like experience.

There’s also a full function remote control. However Harman Kardon have made the Citation Multibeam 1100 smart assistant savvy. You can connect the Soundbar up to either Amazon’s Alexa or Google Assistant to voice control.

This is an absolute must have for any serious home cinema audiophile.

While it does require a bit of leg room on any given surface, it is certainly less chunky and space hogging than some surround systems (looking at you my current Muteki 7.2).

The Harman Kardon Citation Multibeam 1100 is pricey, but you’re not getting a run-of-the-mill Soundbar here, you’re investing in an intelligent speaker array system that packs in a 360 degree soundscape worthy of a true theatre experience.

The demand for small but better than your TV audio is still going strong, even though soundbars have been around for a few years now.

From the cheapies found at your local discount department stores through to the super expensive all-in-one single sound solution.

JBL have taken the lower pricing tier but added the function of the more expensive units and raised the bar once again incorporating the superior quality from Harmon in to their 5.0 MultiBeam.

To sum up what JBL’s 5.0 MultiBeam is – it is a singular soundbar. No external sub needed as the 5.0 MultiBeam has both directional 3D audio with subs built-in.

Pair it up with Google Assistant or Alexa and start playing music from the 5.0 MultiBeam by voice, not too mention all of the other functions that a smart assistant can offer.

The 5.0 MultiBeam also has Chromecast, full 4K HD passthrough and Airplay as well as Multi Room Music (Alexa).

On board you have one USB socket (play media from USB), two HDMI’s for pass through, ethernet for wired LAN / WAN and an Optical port.

The JBL 5.0 Multibeam is currently THE home solution to a larger, space hogging home cinema kit, priced at only a fraction of a multi speaker and amp would cost.

Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. has rounded out its full 2020 Q-series soundbar line-up with the release of two new premium models including HW-Q950T and HW-Q900T.

The HW-Q950T delivers the audio quality of 9.1.4-channel, the maximum number of channels for currently available home-theatre systems in a single soundbar. The model packs in extra-powerful sound with two wireless rear up-firing speakers and also adds left and right wide channel speakers to the previous 7.1.4-channel system, allowing the audio output to express the motion on the screen in a more realistic way with greater immersion.

Both the HW-Q950T and HW-Q900T support Dolby Atmos – which transports listeners with immersive, moving audio that flows all around you, along with DTS:X from DTS for multi-dimensional audio technology. Hisense Australia has announces the launch of its new Sound Bar category, with two models hitting shelves from now.

The high-quality 5.1.2 channel Dolby Atmos Sound Bar, or entry-level 2.1 channel Sound Bar.

Hisense 512 Soundbar

The 5.1.2 channel Dolby Atmos Sound Bar features leading Dolby Atmos surround sound technology, utilising 11 built-in speakers with four upward-firing drivers to ensure sound comes from all directions, including overhead. The result is a multidimensional sound experience with astonishing clarity, richness, detail and depth, with bass enhanced by the inclusion of a wireless 8-inch subwoofer. 

Supporting HDMI, Bluetooth, AUX, USB, Optical and Coaxial connections, the Hisense 5.1.2 channel Dolby Atmos Sound Bar also facilitates DTS:X, 4K and HDR pass-through, which together create an immersive and impactful sound experience.   

The 2.1 channel Sound Bar with wireless subwoofer features Dolby Digital and DTS technology and also offers several connection methods, including HDMI-ARC, Bluetooth, AUX, USB, Optical and Coaxial. Designed to perfectly replicate deep bass, the Sound Bar is boosted by its wireless 6.5-inch subwoofer, while the 40 Hz – 20 kHz frequency response provides listeners with clear and concise sound.

Hisense 215 Soundbar

The introduction of the Sound Bar range is in line with Hisense’s focus on sound quality this year and complements the Dolby Atmos technology that features across its recently released 2019 ULED TV range. 

“Customer demand for Hisense products continues to grow, and the introduction of Sound Bars in the Australian market is the next big step in meeting this demand,” added Iannuzzi. 

The models will be available via all major electronics retailers across Australia.
