OPPO has announced it will be among the latest batch of device companies to support Google’s CameraX, the new Android Jetpack support library for camera app development.

Debuted yesterday, during a keynote at Google Developer Days China 2019 (GDD China 2019) in Shanghai, the capabilities powered by OPPO’s imaging technology and CameraX were demonstrated live through a Reno 10x Zoom handset. At the event, OPPO and Google also announced the full lineup of OPPO smartphones that will support the new solution.

OPPO Reno 10x Zoom

Google’s CameraX, an Android solution which enables developers to leverage the camera experiences and features from a device’s native camera app, will be supported by a range of OPPO devices, including OPPO Reno 10x Zoom and future Reno devices.

Through the integration of CameraX on OPPO smartphones, developers can now tap into OPPO’s leading imaging technologies by applying as little as two lines of code. Without the need for device-specific code, devices supporting CameraX will also enable developers to use OPPO’s cutting-edge HDR and Beauty capabilities to seamlessly improve their app experiences.

Kevin Cho, Managing Director OPPO New Zealand says the partnership is a nod to the company’s vision to be at the forefront of cutting-edge innovations in smartphone technology.

“We’re thrilled to partner with Google’s CameraX and enable developers worldwide to tap into our our leading imaging technologies for a more seamless experience in camera app development, while in turn creating better experiences for our Kiwi users that exceed expectations.

“We look forward to continuing to drive the development of the most innovative apps in the era of intelligent connectivity and explore more solutions in imaging technologies,” says Cho.

As an early adopter of CameraX, OPPO has opened its innovative imaging technologies to all developers, allowing them to better tailor their app experiences for OPPO users. At GDD China 2019, OPPO invited visitors to the OPPO booth to test the smartphones with and without CameraX through CameraX Basic, producing a dramatic boost in photo quality.

Using the app, attendees were also able to take advantage of OPPO’s advanced camera features like Beauty Mode and HDR to capture outstanding, high-quality photos.

A pioneer in imaging technology, OPPO constantly innovates in the development of cutting-edge innovation for smartphone photography and related fields. By opening its camera capabilities through CameraX, OPPO aims to enable more third-party developers to leverage its leading camera technology to create more diverse applications and fulfill users’ needs for a professional, robust and convenient photography experience.

Brazil Games, a partnership between Brazilian Game Companies Association, ABRAGAMES, and Apex-Brasil (Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency), was created with the goal to promote the Brazilian gaming industry and enable its worldwide success. They have formed a vast network of video game businesses specialized in a wide spectrum of disciplines including software and external development for consoles, mobile, PC, VR, Liveops, PR/marketing, transmedia, audio and indie game design. Brazil Games reaches its peak every year in June when Sao Paulo becomes the heart of the Indie Game scene in Latin America during the BIG festival, Brazil’s Independent Game Festival, held this year from June 22 to June 30, 2019

A third game, Areia (GILP Studio), earned a spot in Best In Play’s Honorable Mention category. Additionally, two more Brazilian games, Trial of Titans (Oktagon Games) and Talaka (Flux Games), have been selected to take part in GDC Pitch, a chance for games to present themselves to the international game community for investors and publishers to help them achieve their potential.

The delegation has also taken theInternational Mobile Gaming Awardsby storm. No less than six games have each been nominated to receive an award at this year’s gathering.

Spark of Light, a casual fairy-tale VR game developed by the Dutch start-up, Pillow’s Willow VR Studios, has won the Award for Best Vivewave Game during the Vive Developer Award Ceremony at the Game Developers Conference (GDC) in San Francisco.

This award is another sign of recognition from the industry that this beautiful game, with amazing visuals and gameplay, truly is a major achievement. Last November Spark of Light broke into the spotlight when it was chosen to be the launching game title for the Vive Focus, HTC’s new 6DoF VR device.

‘At the start of the development of this game we were unsure if it would be a success, even though we believed in it ourselves’, Creative Lead, Peter Kortenhoeven says, ‘We are totally excited with this award, and will work with even more positive flow and energy on our new games now’.

‘This award is especially important because we made a clear choice to avoid violence in our games and instead build the gamer’s confidence, which wasn’t the most common or safest route to take’, CEO, Andy Lürling mentions, ‘but we really wanted to show that it is possible to create positive impact with VR games and still offer the gamer a really awesome experience’.

Spark of Light is playable on the Daydream, Gear VR as well as on the new standalone Headsets like Vive Focus. Especially in China, the game is immensely popular with the public and they have really embraced the adorable main characters, Nerow and Willow, as VR heroes.

Currently the Dutch VR game developer is working on 2 new game titles. The first is for the mid and high-end devices called Reefquest and the other is an active eSports full body VR game for location based centres and event organizations. We foresee a bright future for this developer.
