When I checked out the first season of Blood & Treasure I had some mixed expectations.

It sounded intriguing but I wasn’t sure that it would meet its lofty ambitions. Yet I found it to be an enjoyable cheesy romp, so naturally I was down for the chance to check out Season 2.

This Season has us joining our old protagonists Danny and Lexi.

Danny is an ex-CIA agent and Lexi is an ex-master thief.  Don’t worry about forgetting that fact, the recap at the start of every episode will remind you… every time.

Blood and Treasure

Anyway, the events of this Season has our heroes hunting for the Spirit Banner of Genghis Khan. Their hunt kicks off in Vietnam where they discover a powerful crime lord that has many gang organisations like the Triads in his back pocket. So you know, he’s a bit of a bad ass.  He’s on the hunt for an important artefact, you guessed it, the Spirit Banner of Genghis Khan.

Now the race is on to find this mysterious object. There are mysteries to be unraveled, friends of Danny and Lexi we know about, friends that we didn’t know about, oh and a Vatican conspiracy. I mean why not throw that bad boy in there.

Blood and Treasure

For the most part the story isn’t overly unique, but it has some fun takes and the same fantastic locations. What you’re here for is action and comedy and there is heaps of it.

The action is much better than expected, and the comedy is hit and miss at times. Thanks to some incredibly solid acting the varying levels of quality in the dialogue are enjoyable anyway.

One of the better battle scenes is when they make their way through an old Soviet secret base in Mongolia.  Oh it’s also a sacred Mongolian site, so that’s a unique slice of fun. All of a sudden there is an all out battle between the gang and the heroes who also have a Russian biker gang on their side.

There are some lines form the Russians that have not aged well, but you know, let’s ignore current events to just enjoy whats happening.

Blood and Treasure

The Bluray itself isn’t loaded with Special Features, but it does have outtakes. Still, you are here for the show itself and the quality on Bluray is great.

If you were a fan of the first Season, then Blood & Treasure – Season 2 is a must watch. The story and action are bigger, better, and more chaotic. If you haven’t jumped on the Blood & Treasure train yet, then check out Season 1 first. It’s a bit dumb, a bit silly, but so much fun.

Turn your brain off, and enjoy.
