T1 have done it again. In front of a roaring 18,000-strong crowd at Dong’an Lake Sports Park, the South Korean powerhouse claimed their sixth League of Legends World Championship title, defeating KT Rolster 3–2 in what’s being hailed as the greatest Telecom War in history.
It marks T1’s third consecutive Worlds win, the first-ever three-peat in League of Legends history, and another glittering chapter in the legacy of Lee “Faker” Sang-hyeok, who now stands alone as a six-time world champion.

The Road to Glory
T1’s path to the 2025 Worlds title was anything but easy. After a confident opening win against FlyQuest, they stumbled against CTBC Flying Oyster and regional rivals Gen.G during the Swiss Stage. But when it mattered most, the reigning champs switched into gear. They swept 100 Thieves and Movistar KOI 2–0 apiece to secure their Knockout Stage spot.
Their playoff run reminded fans why T1 are the gold standard of competitive League. A tense five-game thriller against Anyone’s Legend in the quarterfinals tested their resilience, but composure under pressure pulled them through. Then, in a clinical 3–0 sweep of Top Esports, they stormed into their fourth consecutive Worlds Final.
The Greatest Telecom War in History
The grand final was everything fans hoped for, and more. KT Rolster entered on a hot streak, having lost just one game throughout the tournament, including a statement victory over Gen.G in the semifinals. On the other side stood T1, two-time defending champions with a chance to make esports history.
KT came out swinging. Their early-game control repeatedly pushed T1 onto the back foot, with Seo “deokdam” Dae-gil and Gwak “Bdd” Bo-sung leading the charge. But T1, famed for their mid-to-late-game discipline, weathered every storm. Game 1 went their way after an 18-minute turnaround, but KT fired back in Game 2 with precision team play.
Game 3 saw KT again dominate early, yet T1’s jungle-support duo, Moon “Oner” Hyeon-jun on Dr. Mundo and Ryu “Keria” Min-seok on Alistar, pulled off clutch skirmishes to seize back momentum. From there, T1 took control. Game 4 was a masterclass, with Lee “Gumayusi” Min-hyeong’s Kalista and Faker’s Anivia completely suffocating KT’s map pressure.
In the decisive Game 5, T1 unleashed a bold composition built around Galio, Pantheon, and Camille, dictating every move and closing out the series with authority. When the Nexus fell, the arena erupted, history had been made.
Faker and the Generation of Miracles
For Faker, the win cements his place as the undisputed greatest player of all time. Six world titles, four consecutive finals, and now a three-peat, achievements that may never be replicated.
This also marks the third Worlds trophy for Oner, Gumayusi, and Keria, who have defined what fans now call T1’s “generation of miracles.” And for Choi “Doran” Hyeon-jun, it’s the ultimate redemption story. Replacing former toplaner Zeus last year was met with heavy criticism, but his steady performance across the tournament silenced doubters once and for all.
Adding to the poetic symmetry, veteran coach Kim “kkOma” Jeong-gyun lifted another Worlds trophy, this time defeating KT Rolster’s own coach Go “Score” Dong-bin, his former StarTale teammate from 2011.
T1’s Dynasty Continues
While T1’s dominance may seem inevitable, it’s built on remarkable consistency. Despite not winning a single LCK split in recent years, they’ve reached every Worlds final since 2022, peaking exactly when it matters most.

This victory not only reinforces T1’s status as League’s greatest dynasty, but also highlights their unmatched ability to nurture and retain world-class talent. With Faker signed through 2029 and the same core roster still hungry for more, there’s no sign of their reign ending any time soon.
As chants of “Faker! Faker!” echoed through the arena, it felt less like the end of a story and more like the continuation of an era.
