The announcement confirms a new Tier 1 CS2 programme built around a structured calendar of elite tournaments and a financial framework designed to support professional teams and players. Across the two years, PGL plans to host at least six premier CS2 events annually, while distributing prize money, participation bonuses, and viewership incentives throughout the competitive circuit.
According to PGL, the initiative is aimed at creating greater stability in the rapidly expanding Counter-Strike esports landscape, allowing organisations to plan their rosters, partnerships, and long-term investments with more certainty.
PGL Announces Long-Term CS2 Tier 1 Programme
The programme introduces a guaranteed financial structure worth at least $11 million per year, which combines prize money, team rewards, and incentives tied to participation and audience engagement.
Of that yearly total, $6 million will be distributed based on competitive results across the six events, while an additional $5 million will support organisations through various revenue streams. This includes a $2.2 million invite bonus pool and a $2.8 million annual incentive tied to viewership performance.

PGL CEO Silviu Stroie described the programme as the organiser’s most ambitious commitment to Counter-Strike yet. Writing on social media, Stroie said the incentives are designed to attract the best teams and players while continuing to deliver major events for the global CS community.
Each event will also maintain PGL’s traditional tournament format, a structure widely recognised across the Counter-Strike scene for closely mirroring the format used in CS Majors.
Prize Money And Team Revenue Breakdown
The financial structure behind the CS2 Tier 1 programme is built around multiple revenue streams intended to reward both performance and participation.
Each year, $3 million will be allocated to players as prize money, with another $3 million distributed to teams through club rewards based on event placements.
Beyond tournament winnings, teams will also have access to additional revenue pools. These include invite bonuses tied to Valve Regional Standings, which reward the highest-ranked teams that accept tournament invitations. For four events per year, the invite bonus pool will be $400,000, while the remaining two events will feature $300,000 each.
Another key component is the annual $2.8 million viewership incentive. This pool rewards teams that generate the highest average cumulative viewership during events, with points awarded based on audience performance and the number of PGL tournaments attended.
According to PGL, this layered system ensures organisations benefit not only from winning events but also from consistency, participation, and fan engagement.
Player Hospitality And Tournament Operations
Alongside the financial incentives, PGL is expanding its hospitality programme for teams competing in the circuit.
The organiser will cover travel costs for up to eight team members per roster and provide accommodation in four-star hotels or higher, with single rooms for players. Teams will also receive access to dedicated practice rooms designed to replicate the on-stage competitive environment, featuring regularly updated PCs and professional peripherals.
Tournament scheduling will prioritise competitive integrity, limiting teams to a maximum of one best-of-three match per day while ensuring adequate preparation time between games.
The programme also includes opportunities for fan engagement at events, including merchandise sales and team activations, along with event credentials and ticket allocations for team staff and partners.
CS2 Tournament Schedule For 2027
PGL has confirmed six Tier 1 CS2 tournaments for the 2027 season, with several events taking place within the Schengen Zone.
The confirmed dates are:
- Event 1: January 17–24 (Schengen)
- Event 2: February 13–21 (Schengen)
- Event 3: March 19–28 (Location TBD)
- Event 4: April 16–25 (Location TBD)
- Event 5: September 3–12 (Location TBD)
- Event 6: October 8–17 (Location TBD)
Details on host cities will be revealed later. PGL has also invited cities interested in hosting future events to explore partnerships with the organiser.
Early Details For The 2028 CS2 Circuit
The momentum will continue into 2028 with another six planned tournaments. Only the first event currently has confirmed timing, scheduled for January 14–24 in the Schengen area, with the remaining dates and locations to be announced.
PGL has also indicated that additional Tier 1 events could potentially be added to the 2028 calendar as the competitive ecosystem continues to grow.
The long-term investment reinforces PGL’s position as one of Counter-Strike’s leading tournament organisers. In recent months, the company has secured partnerships such as a multi-year agreement with the Romanian city of Cluj-Napoca and a collaboration with ASUS ROG to supply hardware for its 2026 tournament season.
With a guaranteed calendar and one of the largest financial commitments currently announced for Counter-Strike 2 esports, the new programme signals a continued push to expand the global competitive circuit over the next several years.
