Oner commits long term to T1

T1 have confirmed that star jungler Mun Oner Hyeon-jun has signed a contract extension that will keep him with the organisation until the end of 2028. The announcement was shared on T1’s official social media channels, with the organisation describing Oner as a player who continues to shape the team’s history and legacy.

The extension adds two more years to Oner’s previous deal, which was set to expire at the end of 2026. It also arrived as a timely boost for fans, landing just before his 23rd birthday and closing out the year with positive news for one of League of Legends’ most successful teams.

Building stability around Faker

Oner’s new deal means he will continue playing alongside mid lane icon Lee Faker Sang-hyeok, whose own contract was extended earlier this year through to 2029. With both players now locked in long term, T1 have reinforced the core of their roster as they look ahead to future LCK seasons and international events.

Since joining T1 in 2021, Oner has been a constant presence during a period of sustained success. He stepped straight into the LCK spotlight without going through the Challengers League and quickly proved himself on the biggest stages. His first season ended with a Worlds semi final appearance, followed by domestic titles and a run of global dominance that has defined T1’s modern era.

A growing legacy in the jungle

At just 22, Oner already sits among the most decorated junglers in League of Legends history. Since 2023, he has helped T1 secure three World Championship titles in a row, an achievement few players can match. His consistency, decision making, and calm presence in high pressure moments have made him a cornerstone of the team both on and off the Rift.

Inevitably, comparisons continue to follow. Former SKT T1 legend Bae Bengi Seong-woong remains an iconic figure after winning three Worlds titles alongside Faker, while Kim Canyon Geon-bu is often mentioned among the elite following his own international success. Even so, Oner’s age and growing list of achievements suggest he still has years ahead to further define his legacy.

Why the timing matters

The contract extension also comes at a key moment for T1’s wider roster. The team has undergone notable changes in recent seasons, including the departure of longtime ADC Gumayusi. Keeping Oner provides continuity and leadership during this transition, helping newer players settle while maintaining T1’s competitive standards.

With experience, proven chemistry with Faker, and a long term commitment now secured, Oner is set to remain a central figure in T1’s plans. As the organisation looks toward 2026 and beyond, the decision signals a clear intent to stay at the top of both the LCK and the global League of Legends scene.
