A New Chapter for Brazilian Esports Giants
Legendary Brazilian organisation MIBR has officially been acquired by Spun Media, a rapidly growing Brazilian tech media company. The move brings MIBR under Spun Media’s newly formed esports arm, EZOR, alongside fellow Brazilian organisation LOS, marking the beginning of a new era for both teams and for the country’s competitive gaming scene.

According to a report from HLTV, Spun Media plans to invest $18.5 million over the next five years into EZOR, with the goal of expanding the region’s presence on the global stage.
“MIBR is one of Brazil’s biggest organisations,” said João Pedro Manetti, CEO of Spun Media. “Since we entered the gaming market, our main focus has always been large-scale expansion. We also aim to bring big organisations with strong fan bases into our ecosystem.”
Spun Media’s Esports Vision
Spun Media is no stranger to the digital landscape. The company operates across multiple industries, including finance, fashion, culinary arts, entertainment, and esports, providing marketing and media solutions across various sectors.
The creation of EZOR is part of Spun’s larger strategy to strengthen Brazil’s esports ecosystem, foster new talent, and grow its competitive reach. Manetti said the aim is to “further expand communities and take Brazil to more international competitions.”
While MIBR’s existing structure will stay intact, the organisation’s CS division will continue to evolve under this new leadership.
“The goal for the team is to remain competitive and increasingly compete at higher levels to bring more fans to MIBR,” Manetti explained.
A Time of Change for MIBR
The acquisition comes during a transitional period for MIBR’s Counter-Strike roster. The team recently began an international expansion, signing players Klimentii “kl1m” Krivosheev from G2 Academy and Aleksei “Qikert” Golubev, marking a shift from a purely Brazil-based lineup.
Alexandre “kakaveL” Peres, CEO of LOS, will take the lead on competitive matters for EZOR, overseeing both LOS and MIBR. When asked about the organisation’s new international approach, he told HLTV that global integration has been part of the vision since early discussions.
“With our arrival, we simply helped define who the best people would be to join this group,” kakaveL said. “[We sought] people aligned with our vision for the future and our desire to continuously develop both our staff and the Brazilian talent we already have in our ranks.”
This strategic direction signals that MIBR’s leadership is focused on blending international experience with local growth, all in pursuit of building one of Brazil’s most competitive lineups yet.
Mixed Reactions from the Community
Following the announcement, HLTV forums lit up with discussion. Some fans celebrated the move as a positive step for MIBR’s future, while others were quick to express scepticism and humour over the deal.
Comments ranged from excitement to sarcasm, with one user joking that “Spunj bought them”, referencing HLTV’s Australian analyst. Others wondered whether LOS and MIBR sharing ownership under EZOR could create a “conflict of interest,” especially since both organisations field Valorant rosters, though MIBR competes at the partner level while LOS plays in tier two.
Many Brazilian fans, however, expressed optimism that the investment could help MIBR reclaim its place among the top teams in Counter-Strike. One fan noted, “MIBR are one of the oldest and most historic brands in American esports, this could finally put them back where they belong.”
Still, a handful of commenters joked about the financial side of the acquisition, with threads parodying buyout offers for star player Insani, mock auctions starting at “$100k USD,” and even “2500 Safari Mesh knives” as bids, classic HLTV humour that highlights how passionate the community remains about the brand.
What This Means for Brazilian Esports
The acquisition solidifies Spun Media’s position as a major player in the Brazilian esports landscape. By combining MIBR’s rich legacy with LOS’s competitive expertise, EZOR is setting the stage for a stronger, more globally connected ecosystem.
For fans, it’s a promising development that could bring more international exposure to Brazil’s top teams, and more opportunities for local talent to shine on the world stage.
