The South Korean star revealed in a post online that he will be leaving the pro scene as he prepares for his compulsory military service.
引退を何度も言っていましたが、今回は本当なので皆さんに会えなくて本当に残念ですね。 皆さんの応援のおかげで playoffも行ってみて優勝もできて本当に良かったです。 今までありがとうございました!😁

Translated from the X post, SangJoon wrote:
“I didn’t want to see the sad reactions from fans, so I thought I’d talk about this later, but it’s been made public now… 😅 I plan to retire from being a pro from the next league. There are many reasons, but the biggest one is that I have to go to the military soon.”
He followed up with another heartfelt message:
“I’ve said many times that I’m retiring, but this time it’s true, so it’s really sad that I won’t be able to see you all. Thanks to your support, I was able to go to the playoffs and even win, which was amazing. Thank you so much for everything! 😁”
A career full of highlights
SangJoon’s professional Apex run began in 2021, and in just four years he became one of the most respected competitors in the ALGS. He wore the jerseys of well-known organisations such as Crazy Raccoon and REJECT, making his mark in both domestic and international tournaments.
His crowning achievement came in 2024 while representing REJECT. The squad stunned the competition at the ALGS Split 1 Playoffs, climbing from fifth place in the Group Stage to win the Finals with 86 points. SangJoon’s clutch performances in games two and eight pushed REJECT over the line, securing $300,000 (~£221,900) in prize money. His impact was so massive that he was awarded tournament MVP.

In 2025, he moved back to Crazy Raccoon, where he helped the team finish eighth out of 30 in the ALGS APAC North Split 1 Pro League. They later reached the Mid-Season Playoffs but bowed out in 32nd place, taking home $4,500 (~£3,300). Even so, SangJoon’s steady presence continued to show why he was one of the most trusted players in the region.
What’s next?
Unfortunately, SangJoon’s decision means fans won’t see him in upcoming Apex Legends tournaments. He won’t be part of the 2025 Split 2 Pro League or the Challenger Circuits running from August to October, nor the ALGS 2026 Championship scheduled for January.

For a player who only four years ago was just making his name on the big stage, his departure feels sudden, but the legacy he leaves is undeniable. That 2024 championship run with REJECT will go down as one of the defining moments in ALGS history.
As he now steps away to fulfil his duty in the military, SangJoon leaves behind not just a trophy and an MVP title, but also a reputation as one of Apex Legends’ most influential competitors.
