The wait is almost over. Pan Studio’s dark fantasy RPG Duet Night Abyss finally has a global release date, and it’s coming right in time for Halloween. Fans who’ve been following its development will be able to dive in from 28 October 2025 on PC (Epic Games Store and its own launcher), Android, and iOS. Pre-registration is already live across all platforms, with milestone rewards waiting for players at launch.
What is Duet Night Abyss?
At its core, Duet Night Abyss is a free-to-play action RPG that blends fast-paced hack-and-slash combat with third-person shooting. The game has been compared to heavy hitters like Genshin Impact, Wuthering Waves, and even Warframe, but it’s also carving out its own identity with a few bold decisions.

Set in the dark, mystical world of Atlasia, the story follows two protagonists, known as “Demons,” who are trapped on opposite sides of fate. One fights to survive exile in the unforgiving North Border, while the other unravels a web of political conspiracies. Their paths will eventually collide, with destiny pulling them towards a fated reunion.
Dual Protagonists and Character Trailers
The game is built around a dual-perspective narrative, meaning you’ll get to experience the story from both leads. Pan Studio has been teasing their cast of striking anime-inspired characters, with trailers already spotlighting Berenica, a gothic waifu whose arc explores the burden of wielding a blade.
Combat and Gameplay Freedom
Combat in Duet Night Abyss promises high freedom and flexibility. You won’t be tied to one style or character loadout. Instead, players can mix and match melee and ranged weapons like whipblades, crossbows, sniper rifles, grenade launchers, and hover guns.

The system is designed for creativity, want to juggle enemies mid-air before blasting them with a rifle? You can. Prefer close-range hack-and-slash with ground takedowns? That’s also on the table. Missions won’t just be about fighting either, with tasks like reconnaissance, rescue, and tracking to keep things varied.
Customisation also gets a big focus. Weapons and outfits can be dyed, and you can accessorise with headpieces and ornaments, letting you create a personal look while experimenting with builds.
The Biggest Surprise: No Gacha
Here’s the twist that has caught everyone off guard: Duet Night Abyss is not a gacha game. Despite being marketed as one early in development, Pan Studio revealed during its global launch livestream that there will be no gacha mechanics whatsoever.
Every weapon and character can be unlocked for free by simply playing the game, farming fragments, and collecting forging materials. Optional purchases will be purely cosmetic, with no stamina timers, time-gating, or premium resource walls.

It’s a massive shift that puts Duet Night Abyss closer to something like Warframe than Genshin. While you can still speed things up with purchases, the absence of gacha means you won’t be rolling the dice on banners just to unlock your favourite characters.
Why This Matters
With gacha giants like Neverness To Everness, Arknights: Endfield, and Wuthering Waves dominating the scene, Pan Studio’s move could be a refreshing alternative for players tired of the usual grind. Whether this bold model proves sustainable is still up in the air, but it’s already made Duet Night Abyss one of the most talked-about mobile and PC RPGs heading into late 2025.
