A massive discount on Cyberpunk 2077 and The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt recently caught the attention of Nintendo Switch 2 players, and now CD Projekt Red has confirmed what many suspected. The eye watering price drops were the result of an internal error, but anyone who bought the games at those prices will get to keep them.
What Actually Happened on the Switch 2 eShop
On December 22, 2025, the Nintendo Switch 2 eShop in the Americas briefly listed Cyberpunk 2077: Ultimate Edition at a staggering 75 percent discount. That dropped the price of the normally US$69.99 title to just US$17.49.
What made the deal even more surprising was what came with it. The Ultimate Edition includes the Phantom Liberty expansion, which usually sells for around US$30 on its own. In effect, players could buy the full game plus its major DLC for less than the price of the expansion by itself.

Unsurprisingly, players rushed to grab the deal. Social media quickly filled with posts from fans who thought they had stumbled onto a once in a lifetime bargain, and many assumed the price would not last long.
The Witcher 3 Was Meant to Get the Bigger Discount
The confusion deepened when players noticed that The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt – Complete Edition was discounted less heavily at the same time. According to CD Projekt Red, the discounts were accidentally swapped during submission.
Once the error was corrected, Cyberpunk 2077: Ultimate Edition returned to a more modest 42 percent discount, priced at US$39.99. Meanwhile, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt – Complete Edition now properly sits at 75 percent off, bringing its price down to US$14.99.

CD Projekt Red Confirms the Error
CD Projekt Red addressed the situation directly in a public statement, saying the discounts shown on the Switch 2 eShop were incorrect due to an internal error. The studio explained that the issue has now been fixed and the intended discounts are live.
The discounts for Cyberpunk 2077: Ultimate Edition and The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt – Complete Edition displayed on Nintendo Switch 2 eShop in the Americas on December 22, 2025 were incorrect.
The situation is a result of an error we made when submitting the discount. We have…

Crucially, the company also confirmed that players who bought either game at the incorrect price will not be affected by the change. Purchases made during the error window remain valid, and no licences will be revoked.
Fans Praise the Decision
The response from the community has been overwhelmingly positive. Many players praised CD Projekt Red for honouring the mistake, noting that other companies might have cancelled orders or issued refunds automatically.
A scumbag publisher would’ve reversed those purchases but of course, my goats could never. Merry Christmas, CDPR.

For those who managed to grab Cyberpunk 2077: Ultimate Edition at US$17.49, it turned into an unexpected holiday win. The game is still relatively new on Switch 2 hardware, having launched only six months ago, which made the massive discount even more shocking.
A Win for Players, Even After the Fix
While the massive price cut was never meant to go live, the situation has ended on a high note for players. The discounts have been corrected, clarity has been restored, and early buyers are getting to keep one of CD Projekt Red’s biggest RPGs at an unbeatable price.
For everyone else, The Witcher 3 still offers a deep discount, and Cyberpunk 2077 remains more affordable than usual. Not a bad outcome from what started as a simple pricing mistake.
