This result marks Aurora’s first grand final appearance since signing with the organisation back in April. The team, led by Engin “MAJ3R” Küpeli, have struggled to push deep in tournaments this year, only managing a third-place finish at PGL Astana. Their last final appearance came in January at the BLAST Bounty Season 1 Finals, where they finished runner-up.
Now, they’re back in a title-deciding series, and their opponents will be none other than The MongolZ. The two sides have built a bit of a rivalry throughout 2025, clashing multiple times in quarter-finals but often struggling to maintain consistency in the early part of the season. While Aurora are just now regaining form, The MongolZ have already impressed with a Major grand final appearance and two big wins over Vitality.
The Semi-Final Breakdown
Aurora picked Inferno to kick things off, and it immediately paid off. Falcons often found themselves with the numbers advantage, but couldn’t put a lid on Ismailcan “XANTARES” Dörtkardeş and Özgür “woxic” Eker. The duo ripped through their defence, securing a commanding 9–3 T-side half. Aurora sealed the deal shortly after, taking the pistol on defence and closing the map 13–6.
Falcons had their shot to answer back on their own pick, Train. Things looked good early when Samet “jottAAA” Köklü clutched out a 1v4 to help Aurora to a hot 5–1 start, but Falcons rallied to bring it back to 5–7 at the half. A pistol win put them in the lead after the break, but MAJ3R’s crucial 1v3 flipped the momentum once again. From there, Aurora punished Falcons’ weak economy, grinding out a close 13–11 win to secure the series and book their place in the grand final.
What’s Next
Aurora now turn their attention to The MongolZ, with the two set to clash later today (24 August) in Riyadh at 5pm local time. It’s a matchup with plenty of history this year, and both squads will be eager to prove who’s truly on top heading into the final stretch of the season.
Meanwhile, Falcons aren’t done just yet. They’ll be facing Vitality in the third-place decider at 2pm, their first meeting since adding Maxim “kyousuke” Lukin to the roster.
