NOW CLOSED – As life starts to feel a little more normal, new insights released from the fully impartial price and product comparison site, PriceSpy, reveal just how Kiwis kept busy during Alert Level 3.
According to PriceSpy popularity for LEGO soared, increasing 212 per cent year-on-year between the 6th of April to 6th May (2020 vs 2019). Historical clicks received for board games was also found to have skyrocketed, up 79 per cent over the same period of time.

Liisa Matinvesi-Bassett, New Zealand country manager for PriceSpy, says: “With more people staying at home than ever before, it’s great to see people are keeping busy and passing the time by building LEGO and playing family-favourite board games.
“Interestingly, these findings also highlight the ever-changing shopping trends that are emerging as a result of COVID-19. For example, normally we’d expect to see this level of click-through rates in the lead up to a key buying time, such as Black Friday or Christmas. These however are unprecedented times.
“Surprisingly, the overall most popular and third most-popular LEGO products people clicked on between early April and now were the LEGO Harry Potter 71043 Hogwarts Castle, costing $699.95 and the LEGO Star Wars 75192 Millennium Falcon, costing $1499.99.”
