PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium subscribers are in for a packed January, with Sony confirming a strong lineup of games arriving on January 20. The latest Game Catalog update brings major releases like Resident Evil Village, Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth, and Expeditions: A MudRunner Game, alongside a PS1 classic making its return for Premium members.
The announcement was shared by Adam Michel, Director of Game Services Content at Sony Interactive Entertainment, and confirms that all titles will be playable from January 20. As always, availability may vary slightly by region, so it is worth checking the PlayStation Store on release day.
Big Additions Headline January’s Lineup

Leading the charge this month is Resident Evil Village, the eighth main entry in Capcom’s iconic survival horror franchise. Set after the events of Resident Evil 7, the game follows Ethan Winters as he faces his darkest chapter yet in a remote and unsettling European village. The location itself feels alive, packed with secrets, danger, and some truly unforgettable enemies.

Joining it is Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth, a massive RPG adventure that brings together Ichiban Kasuga and series legend Kazuma Kiryu. The story jumps between the streets of Tokyo and the tropical setting of Honolulu, blending emotional storytelling with turn based combat, side activities, and the trademark humour the series is known for.

For players who prefer something slower but no less intense, Expeditions: A MudRunner Game offers a fresh take on off road exploration. You will lead scientific expeditions across harsh terrain, using advanced vehicles, drones, and scanners to uncover hidden locations and manage your research base.
Horror And Atmosphere Take Centre Stage

January’s lineup leans heavily into suspense and atmosphere, especially with the arrival of A Quiet Place: The Road Ahead on PS5. Inspired by the hit movie franchise, this single player horror adventure focuses on survival, silence, and personal struggles in a world overrun by deadly creatures that hunt by sound.

Also joining the catalog is Darkest Dungeon II, which continues the brutal roguelike formula of its predecessor. Players guide a team of deeply flawed heroes across a collapsing world, managing stress, relationships, and combat as they push towards a final confrontation.

For something more subtle but equally unsettling, The Exit 8 offers a short but memorable experience inspired by Japanese underground passageways and liminal spaces. Spotting small anomalies is the key to escape, and missing even one can send you back to the start.
Racing, Relaxation And Something A Bit Different

Not every addition this month is about fear or tension. Art of Rally brings stylish top down racing inspired by the golden era of rally, with dozens of stages set across the globe and a wide range of classic vehicles to master.

Meanwhile, A Little to the Left offers a calm and charming change of pace. This tidy puzzle game revolves around sorting everyday objects, though a mischievous cat is always nearby to cause chaos. With over 100 puzzles, it is a perfect pick for players looking to unwind.
Ridge Racer Speeds Into PlayStation Plus Premium

Premium subscribers also get a nostalgic bonus this month, with the original Ridge Racer joining the service. The PS1 classic arrives with modern enhancements like rewind, quick save, visual filters, and a music player that lets you choose your favourite tracks while racing. It is a welcome throwback to one of PlayStation’s most iconic launch era games.
A Bittersweet Day As Games Leave The Service
While January 20 brings nine new games to PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium, it also marks the departure of four titles. Leaving the service on the same day are Like a Dragon Gaiden: The Man Who Erased His Name, Monopoly Plus, Sayonara Wild Hearts, and SD Gundam Battle Alliance.
The timing is especially bittersweet for fans of the Like a Dragon series, as Gaiden exits just as Infinite Wealth arrives. The good news is that Gaiden is a shorter experience, and many players should still have time to finish it before it is removed.
