A Legendary Collaboration Begins
In a surprise move that no one saw coming, Valve has officially teamed up with Capcom to bring the world of Monster Hunter into Dota 2. The crossover event, now live, transforms the MOBA into a hunting ground filled with monsters, craftable gear, and iconic companions from Capcom’s hit franchise.
Running for the next three months, this limited-time event introduces a new hunt and crafting system, along with free hero sets, new pets, and plenty of monster-themed surprises. For fans of both series, it’s a dream come true, and yes, Dragon Knight can now turn into Rathalos.
Six Monster Hunter Armour Sets to Collect

Each set comes with three craftable variants, letting players hunt for materials and forge alternate versions in true Monster Hunter style.
Companions: Palico and Poogie Join the Battle
No Monster Hunter crossover would be complete without its adorable mascots. Players can now craft a Palico courier, complete with customisable costumes, and welcome their very own Poogie pet to their base. Poogie will hang around your fountain area, offering affection (and hopefully not leaving any unwanted surprises). Both companions have multiple cosmetic variants that can be crafted or earned through gameplay.

Free Rewards and the Hero Atlas
The event is accessible to all Dota 2 players, with the core version of each hero set available for free once players harvest the required materials from hero hunts. To keep track of progress, Valve has introduced the Hero Atlas, a new feature that logs your hunts, lore, and dispatches penned by Axe’s loyal scribe, Goodkind.
Alongside the cosmetics, players are treated to a short comic starring Axe and Goodkind, setting up the lore behind the crossover and adding a charming narrative touch to the event.
The Expedition Pack: More Monsters, More Loot
For those eager to go all-in, the Expedition Pack adds premium content, including:
- Usable Monster Hunter monsters — Rathalos for Dragon Knight and Bullfango for Beastmaster
- A Monster Hunter music pack and seasonal spray collection
- Bonus crafting materials to jumpstart your hunting journey
- Exclusive craftable variants for Palico, Poogie, and hero sets, featuring custom ambient and Immortal effects
This premium bundle offers both flair and functionality, giving dedicated players even more to hunt for.

The Hunt is On
With the Monster Hunter collaboration replacing traditional seasonal events like Diretide and Frostivus this year, fans have plenty to dive into while waiting for Dota 2’s next chapter. The crossover blends the spirit of both franchises, rewarding grind, detailed cosmetics, and a touch of chaos, all wrapped in Dota 2’s trademark humour.
The hunt will run through early 2026, so gear up, track your prey, and show off your newly forged sets in style. Just remember, in this hunt, the monsters might not be the only ones in danger.
