The crowd in Riyadh couldn’t stop chanting, “Let’s go, Falcons!”, and rightly so. Team Falcons just pulled off a stunning 4-0 sweep over Al Qadsiah to win the OWCS Midseason Championship at the Esports World Cup 2025.

After a long journey through the Last Chance Qualifier, this Overwatch 2 superteam didn’t just win, they made a statement: they’re back, and better than ever.

Map 1 – Lijiang Tower

From their opening plays on Lijiang Tower, Falcons looked locked in. Proper’s Tracer caused havoc across the backlines, SOMEONE shut down flank routes with his Ravenous Vortex, and MER1T cleaned up with deadly Sojourn precision. Al Qadsiah tried their best to hold points and contest in overtime, but nothing stuck. Every attempt was dismantled by Falcons’ relentless control.

Map 2 – Esperança

On Esperança, things didn’t get any easier for the underdogs. Both sides ran mirror comps, Ramattra, Lucio, Kiriko, but Proper, now switching to Venture, once again found the edge. Falcons closed the map out, keeping their opponents on the back foot with aggressive pushes and near-flawless coordination.

Map 3 – New Junk City

New Junk City saw both teams lean into Symmetra-heavy comps, trading big ultimates and control over high ground. But again, Falcons outclassed them. Their rotations were faster, their ult economy cleaner, and their execution sharper.

Map 4 – Circuit Royal

By Circuit Royal, it was clear where things were headed. Falcons shut down push after push, calmly defending and sealing the clean 4-0 sweep.

Proper Earns MVP Honours

For his clutch plays and all-round dominance, Kim “Proper” Dong-hyun took home the Sony MVP title, along with a tidy $10,000 bonus. In the post-match interview, he said, “Even before this tournament, I had to remind myself, I will bring this team back to the top… and I think I proved myself.”

And proved himself he did.

Redemption Complete

This victory hits different for Falcons fans. After placing third at the 2024 Esports World Cup and falling just short at the Champions Clash earlier this year, this win is sweet redemption. MER1T summed it up perfectly: “At the last OWCS, we actually landed as second, but now, we are back as the champions.”

Coach SP9RK1E praised his players’ consistency, saying they “showed up again and again with their boosted performance.”

This win also puts Team Falcons on top of the Club Championship rankings, and earns them the Jafonso Award, given to teams that rise from the Last Chance Qualifier to win it all. A rare and well-deserved honour.
