Xbox Gives Ubisoft Digital Owners Free PC Copies of 13 Games via Ubisoft Connect
Xbox and Ubisoft have expanded their partnership so that anyone who owns a digital copy of one of 13 select Ubisoft games on Xbox console can now also claim a PC copy through Ubisoft Connect at no extra cost. The offer, detailed on Xbox Wire on July 27, covers major franchises including Assassin’s Creed, Watch Dogs, Rainbow Six, Far Cry and The Crew.
Which 13 Ubisoft games are included in the console-to-PC offer
According to Xbox Wire, the update spans fan favorites across the Assassin’s Creed, Far Cry, The Crew and Watch Dogs franchises, and more. The confirmed list, cross-checked against PC Gamer and VideoCardz, includes Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, Assassin’s Creed Mirage, Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora, Far Cry 6, Immortals Fenyx Rising, Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown, Riders Republic, Skull and Bones, The Crew 2, The Crew Motorfest, Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Extraction, Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege and Watch Dogs Legion.
Microsoft and Ubisoft are giving digital Xbox owners PC versions of selected Ubisoft games at no additional cost, with the offer currently covering 13 titles across the Assassin’s Creed, Far Cry, The Crew, Rainbow Six and Watch Dogs series. The PC copies are delivered through Ubisoft Connect rather than the Xbox app itself, so players will need Ubisoft’s own launcher installed to claim them.
Rollout runs through August 4, new purchases unlock instantly
From today, customers that purchase a digital version of the listed titles will immediately get the XBOX console and XBOX on PC digital versions. For anyone who already owned one of the 13 games before the announcement, the PC version arrives during a progressive rollout period until August 4, so it may take a few days to show up in a player’s library.
To make sure the games appear correctly, players need to update Ubisoft Connect to its newest version to ensure the titles are available in their library. Xbox and Ubisoft accounts also need to be linked through the Xbox PC app for the entitlement to sync across platforms.
Season passes and DLC carry over, but the offer only runs one way
Owned add-on content generally follows the base game across to PC. In-game content such as Season Passes and DLC will also transfer, with exceptions for some in-game currencies and one-use items, according to Shacknews’ review of the Xbox Wire announcement.
The benefit does not flow in reverse, though. The program only works from Xbox consoles to PC, and players who already own one of the PC versions will not receive the Xbox console release. Anyone who bought, say, Assassin’s Creed Valhalla on Ubisoft Connect first won’t be handed a free Xbox console copy as a result.
Not Xbox Play Anywhere: no achievements or cross-save support
Despite the free entitlement, Microsoft has been clear this isn’t the same as its long-running Xbox Play Anywhere program, which normally bundles console and PC copies with shared saves and achievements. This new dual-entitlement offer isn’t exactly similar to Microsoft’s Xbox Play Anywhere program, which grants access to the Xbox and PC versions of a game with full cross-save and cross-progression support.
Windows Central’s reporting echoes that gap, noting that none of these games support Xbox Play Anywhere, meaning players won’t get achievements, save synchronicity, or any other Xbox-adjacent features. Alongside the free redemption offer, Ubisoft has also used the same update to add more premium editions and add-on content for other titles on the Xbox PC app, with Thurrott noting the list of new additions includes Assassin’s Creed Shadows, Star Wars Outlaws, Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege, Skull and Bones, and Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown.
For Australian and New Zealand players who split their time between Xbox consoles and gaming PCs, the offer is a straightforward win even without Play Anywhere polish — a paid-for library entry on console now doubles as a Ubisoft Connect install without reaching for a card. Given the staggered rollout, local players who don’t see a title appear immediately should simply check back before August 4 rather than assume they’ve missed out.
