The Finals Season 11 “Galaxy Masters” Launches, Resets Ranked Grind

THE FINALS has launched Season 11, “Galaxy Masters,” sending Embark Studios’ free-to-play gameshow shooter into space with a new arena, a rebuilt melee combat system and a reworked ranked ladder. The update, confirmed by Embark’s official patch notes, went live on Thursday, July 9, on PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.
The update brought with it the most substantive overhaul of the game’s melee combat system since launch and a brand-new arena designed from scratch around the studio’s Smooth Destruction engine. Unlike some previous seasons, Embark hasn’t added any new guns, gadgets or specializations this time around — Season 11 adds no new weapons, gadgets, or specializations, making it a systems-and-content season rather than an arsenal drop.
Galaxy Estates Sends THE FINALS Into Orbit
The new map is set in a space ring colony orbiting Saturn, sponsored by COMETA. The habitat is designed after early NASA concepts from the 1970s, with suburban areas, luxury homes, a spaceport, a gym and a botanical garden, with the central hub featuring an encircling speed tunnel that lets players quickly rotate between core areas. A second new mobility feature, anti-gravity columns, lets contestants rotate through vertical spaces on the map.
Galaxy Estates isn’t confined to a single mode. According to Embark’s patch notes, the map arrives in Cashout, Ranked Cashout, Quick Cash and Team Deathmatch, plus Head-2-Head and Final Round in Private Matches, with a dedicated Cashout queue running for the first week so players can drop into the new arena whenever they like.
The destruction tech underpinning the map has drawn early praise. Gaming outlet GamingTrend, which previewed the season ahead of launch, called Galaxy Estates “one of the best maps in The Finals thanks to its clean white and orange aesthetics, new speed tunnel features, and use of smooth destruction.” The central spire can be toppled directionally, with the collapsed structure usable as a makeshift route to other buildings once it comes down.
Melee Combat Gets Stamina and Precision Systems
The headline systems change is a rebuilt melee model. Embark has built a dual-mechanic melee system around a Precision damage zone and a Stamina combo-throttle that changes how melee weapons distribute damage and how players chain hits against multiple targets, replacing the old system where melee weapons hit for the same damage regardless of where in the attack sweep contact was made.
In practice, that means landing hits cleanly now matters far more. As Dot Esports explains, a new crosshair with two lines on the sides indicates the Precision zone on all melee weapons, and players must land hits inside the lines to deal maximum damage, while hits outside the lines deal around 70 percent of total damage. Landing precision hits ties into Stamina, which adds a lunge to melee attacks as a gap-closer; players consume Stamina with attacks but recover it with successful hits.
Beyond melee, Embark’s Season 11 balance pass touched the wider arsenal too. Per The Finals Loadout’s breakdown of the 11.0.0 patch notes, balance changes include the FCAR dropping from 540 to 530 RPM as a nerf, and Evasive Dash going from three charges down to two.
Ranked Reset Adds Personal Performance Bonuses
Season 11 also brings the competitive ladder its biggest shake-up in months, alongside the standard seasonal ranked reset. Season 11 introduces personal performance bonuses in Ranked that grant bonus Ranked Score based on how a player performs, with the amount scaling with performance grade and rank and having the most impact in lower ranks like Silver and Gold.
Embark’s own patch notes frame this as a continuation of ongoing work on the ranked system, noting that over the last six months the studio has been refining Ranked play and still has plenty it wants to improve, with Season 11 introducing personal performance bonuses that grant bonus Ranked Score based on how a player performs in a match, meaning even a loss with a strong individual performance still earns something.
World Tour progression has also changed. Embark is changing how World Tour rewards are earned this season, granting the reward for reaching a league rather than climbing to the top of it, meaning that once a player hits Diamond 4, their Diamond league rewards are guaranteed. On top of that, Embark has added an additional reward token to Ranked for Season 11, letting players earn two Diamond tokens — one for reaching Diamond 4 and another for reaching Diamond 1. Outlet MP1st also confirms other new touches to the ranked flow, including an a counting animation added to the end-of-round Ranked Score breakdown for clearer post-match updates.
Bot Matches and a Refreshed Battle Pass Target New Players
Embark is also making a concerted push to lower the barrier of entry. After completing the tutorial, players now enter the Early Talent Program — a series of challenges designed to familiarize newcomers with different modes, playstyles and features — while new or returning players can also practice core mechanics in bot Cashout matches, with bot enemies still in beta but able to navigate the dynamic environment, cause destruction and use different gadgets.
The new Battle Pass leans fully into the season’s retro-space theme. The Season 11 Battle Pass introduces 106 total rewards across standard and bonus pages, including 5 Mythic cosmetics, 7 Legendary items, and approximately 21 Multibucks of in-game currency value. Embark’s own notes add that the Premium tier alone unlocks up to 106 Rewards, including bonus pages as well as the ability to earn 1575 Multibucks, more than enough to buy next Season’s Pass, while a separate legacy pass lets players catch up on an earlier season’s cosmetics.
Embark has also tightened anti-cheat enforcement alongside the content drop. In Season 11 the studio has launched additional measures to prevent the use of third-party overlays, such as Crosshair X, as they’re against its fair use policy, with players trying to launch the game while running such software blocked from booting and shown error message TFAV8011.
EMEA Cycle 2 Kicks Off Competitive Play Under the New Patch
The new season lands just before THE FINALS’ competitive scene resumes broadcast play. Embark’s official notes point to EMEA’s Cycle 2 Top 8 airing this Saturday, July 11 — the first competitive broadcast of Season 11 — with a new patch, new meta, and the region’s best teams working it out live on air. Defending champions TEIKO, last cycle’s “last-seed fairytale” run, were eliminated before the finals broadcast, crashing out of the Top 16 and leaving the region wide open, with Five Fears — the team TEIKO beat in the previous final — now carrying the favorites tag and a point to prove for a spot at The Grand Major 2026.
Publisher Nexon, which owns Stockholm-based Embark Studios outright, confirmed the rollout on its own channels, framing Galaxy Estates as inspired by a retro-futurism concept inspired by the 1960s American Dream with a space travel theme. For Australian and New Zealand players, THE FINALS remains free to download on PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, with the ranked reset giving regional squads a clean slate to climb before the next Oceania qualifying window opens.
