Street Fighter 6’s Yasmine Cuts In August 3 as Capcom’s First Filipino Fighter

Capcom has locked in August 3, 2026 as the release date for Yasmine, the Filipino Eskrima fighter opening Street Fighter 6’s Year 4 content season, with the character arriving alongside a full roster-wide balance patch. Yasmine will be the first character coming to Street Fighter 6 Year 4 across PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, PC, and Nintendo Switch 2 on August 3, 2026. The launch also doubles as a systemic reset for the game, since Yasmine’s release will also coincide with Battle Balance adjustments for the entire Street Fighter 6 roster.

Karambit Knives and a Missing Brother Drive Yasmine’s Story

Yasmine’s backstory centres on family and disappearance rather than the usual tournament-fighter setup. Hailing from the Philippines, Yasmine learned how to fight alongside her Kuya (older brother) under the guidance of her Lolo (grandfather). Following the sudden disappearance of her brother, Yasmine put down her Karambit knife until FooTube videos of a certain French supermodel inspired her to cut a path to her lost sibling.

Capcom’s own character page frames her as a study in contrasts. A high-schooler who became a fighter to find her lost brother, she is a shy and gentle soul, but beams with confidence in fights, where she uses her Lolo’s moves. That duality carries into her move list, which leans heavily on the crescent-bladed karambit and rapid repositioning rather than raw power. On her journey of discovery, Yasmine will use various high-speed Eskrima techniques such as Daloy ng Tubig, a quick forward-moving knife attack that can set-up or extend combos.

Capcom Explains Why the Philippines Got Its First Representative

Speaking with IGN ahead of launch, series director Takayuki Nakayama laid out the thinking behind giving the Philippines its first playable representative in the franchise’s history. “So, I guess the genesis of how this character was created all started with the desire to want to introduce a first-time Filipino character into this series,” said Nakayama. The team reportedly went further than a cosmetic nod to the country, bringing in outside expertise for the fighting style itself.

Nakayama detailed how the studio approached the unfamiliar (to most Street Fighter players) martial art. “And beyond that, we wanted to introduce a brand new martial arts style that many people with Filipino or Indonesian backgrounds are maybe familiar with. So we did a lot of research and homework and even asked for help for professional martial artists who use that Filipino style for the mocap,” said Nakayama. Producer Shuhei Matsumoto joined Nakayama for the interview, with both developers reportedly consulting Filipino staff internally on cultural details woven into Yasmine’s presentation.

Two Outfits, One Acquisition Gauge

Beyond her fighting style, Yasmine ships with a pair of contrasting looks tied to the game’s existing cosmetic systems. Yasmine’s Outfit 1 showcases her in Eskrima combat attire, while Outfit 2 depicts Yasmine in her school uniform between bouts. Outfit 2 can be unlocked by maxing out her Acquisition Gauge in Avatar Arcade Mode or with Fighter Coins. Players who don’t want to grind can instead unlock her outright through paid content.

On pricing, Capcom is sticking to its now-familiar three-tier model for Year 4. Individual characters cost $6.99 USD each (350 Fighter Coins), the Year 4 Character Pass runs $29.99 USD and includes all four characters plus Outfit 1 Colors 3 to 10 and 3,000 Drive Tickets, while the Year 4 Ultimate Pass is priced at $45.99 USD and adds every alternate costume in every colour. Regional AUD and NZD storefront pricing typically mirrors Capcom’s existing DLC tiers, so Australian and New Zealand players buying through PSN, Xbox or Steam can expect the usual currency conversion rather than a standalone regional price.

Arjun, Tifa and Bosch Round Out the Rest of Year 4

Yasmine is only the opening act. Street Fighter 6 Year 4 knuckles down for another year of pulse pounding pugilism, as four new characters arrive to showcase the meaning of Unbridled Strength, with the roster featuring iconic special guest Tifa from the Final Fantasy VII Remake series, brand new fighters Yasmine and Arjun, and the second protagonist of World Tour, Bosch. Per Capcom’s own release schedule, Arjun follows in autumn 2026, Tifa arrives in early 2027 and Bosch closes out the pass in spring 2027, with Arjun built as a bare-knuckle yoga fighter using a lung capacity gauge instead of traditional boxing mechanics, Tifa adapting Zangan-ryu martial arts, Materia and Limit Break systems as a guest fighter, and Bosch bringing the World Tour rival’s unique competitive moveset.

The pass also folds in freebies unrelated to the new fighters. The pass includes a new EX colour for Juri, a new EX colour for Chun-Li, Challenger Screen Illustrations for Jamie and Sagat, the “Pirate Ship Higemaru” mini-game, and new avatar decorations. For context on how Capcom has paced past seasons, Year 3 opened with Sagat on August 5, followed by C. Viper on October 15, Alex on March 17 and Ingrid as the fourth character on May 28. If Year 4 follows a similar cadence, Yasmine’s August 3 debut sets the tone for roughly a year of staggered DLC drops feeding into Street Fighter 6’s competitive scene, including the tournament circuits that Australian and New Zealand players follow closely through regional online lobbies and Battle Hub matchmaking.
