Stardew Valley Hits Magic: The Gathering With Three Secret Lair Drops, July 27

Magic: The Gathering is heading to Pelican Town. Wizards of the Coast has officially confirmed a Stardew Valley crossover through its Secret Lair line, with three separate card drops going on sale on July 27 at 9 a.m. PT / noon ET, priced at $39.99 in foil and $29.99 non-foil while supplies last, according to the company’s official announcement.
The reveal landed during MagicCon Amsterdam’s Secret Lair-a-thon panel, part of a wider showcase Wizards of the Coast has branded the Superdrop of the Moonlight Jellies, bringing “three drops of cozy routines, small-town errands, magical detours, and the classic farmer’s tradition of convincing yourself there’s time for one more floor in the mines.” Coverage from Game Informer and Kotaku, both present for the reveal, corroborate the date, pricing and card contents detailed in the official post.
ConcernedApe Designed the New “Stardew Valley” Land Card Himself
The centrepiece of the collaboration is a brand-new card simply called “Stardew Valley,” a land that has never existed in Magic before. Wizards of the Coast confirmed the card was designed by Studio X’s Cameron Williams, while the artwork itself comes straight from the farming sim’s creator.
According to the official listing, the card is “a new-to-Magic land card with art from Stardew Valley creator ConcernedApe that’s legal in Commander, Legacy, and Vintage.” Kotaku reports that Eric Barone, the solo developer behind Stardew Valley known as ConcernedApe, personally visited Wizards of the Coast headquarters to help design the three drops despite currently focusing his development time on his next project, Haunted Chocolatier.
Functionally, the land leans into the game’s core loop of gifting and generosity. Wizards described the mechanic in playful terms, noting it “starts simple: add a little mana, make a little Food, and see where a well-timed gift takes you,” adding that players “might even hand something across the table, because in Stardew Valley, generosity is a game mechanic.”
Three Themed Drops Cover the Farm, Pelican Town and the Mines
Rather than a single set, the collaboration is split into three distinct Secret Lair drops, each built around a different slice of Stardew Valley life. Game Informer’s rundown of the MagicCon panel lists the full contents confirmed by Wizards of the Coast.
The first, Welcome to Stardew Valley, bundles Stardew Valley, Wedding Rings as “Mermaid’s Pendant,” Dawn’s Truce as “Pierre’s Truce,” Swords to Plowshares, Rites of Flourishing, Kynaois and Tiro of Meletis as “The Welcoming Committee,” Sol Ring, and a Food Token. The second, Life in Pelican Town, focuses on the town’s social hub with Crop Rotation, Fountainport reskinned as “Community Center,” Homeward Path as “Pelican Town,” Command Tower as “Tower of Rasmodius,” and Yavimaya, Cradle of Growth as “Valley Farmstead.”
The third drop, A Flicker in the Deep, ventures into the game’s dungeon crawling with Atsushi, Blazing Sky as “Royal Serpent,” Miotic Slime as “Big Slime,” Arcane Signet, Sword of Forge and Frontier as “Galaxy Sword,” Treasure Vault, an Ooze Token, and a Treasure Token. Gaming outlet Wargamer, which tallied every reveal from the Amsterdam panel, noted one collection is illustrated by ConcernedApe himself, “with unique art and frames that resemble the video game’s UI,” including the mechanically unique Stardew Valley land.
Bonus Foil Promo and Local Game Store Availability
Buyers who pick up select bundles will get an added incentive alongside the core cards. Wizards of the Coast confirmed that select bundles will also come with a foil Puca’s Mischief as “Lucky Purple Memento” promo card, while supplies last.
Unlike some Secret Lair exclusives that are sold only direct-to-consumer, part of this crossover will also reach physical retailers. The official announcement states that “Secret Lair drops are in season at your local game store,” with non-foil editions of the Welcome to Stardew Valley set arriving at Wizards Play Network stores at a later, unspecified date.
Part of a Bumper MagicCon Amsterdam Reveal Slate
The Stardew Valley crossover was just one piece of a packed showcase at MagicCon Amsterdam. Gaming outlet Wargamer, which tracked the full presentation, reported that a grand total of 79 Magic: The Gathering Secret Lair cards were revealed at the event, spread across several superdrops fans will be able to buy from the Secret Lair website in the coming weeks.
Among the other reveals confirmed alongside Stardew Valley was a long-rumoured Hatsune Miku Commander deck. Outlet TheGamer, also in attendance, reported that the Hatsune Miku Secret Lair Commander deck had been leaked multiple times over the past year but is now officially confirmed, set to drop on the Secret Lair website on August 10, 2026, at 9 a.m. PT. A separate Hobbit-themed superdrop was also teased for release around the film franchise’s anniversary, per Wargamer’s coverage of the panel.
For Stardew Valley’s massive global fanbase, including plenty of players across New Zealand and Australia who have kept the decade-old farming sim in constant rotation, the MTG crossover is another sign of how far ConcernedApe’s indie hit has travelled beyond gaming. Local collectors will need to order through MagicSecretLair.com for the July 27 launch, as regional pricing and shipping details for the direct-to-consumer drops were not specified in the official announcement.
