Slap Out of It! Runs on the “Rule of Dumb,” Turbo Button Reveals at E4 2026

Turbo Button, the studio behind the VR escape-room hit Floor Plan, has revealed its first game built entirely outside virtual reality. Slap Out of It! was unveiled during the Day of the Devs: Summer Game Fest Edition showcase in Los Angeles on June 5, and it swaps VR headsets for a “slap-and-solve” comedy adventure headed to PC and consoles in 2027.
According to the studio’s official press release distributed via Games Press, the game is a slap-and-solve adventure where you take on the world’s problems with your own personal touch in a slapstick comedy sandbox packed with silly puzzles. Turbo Button co-founder Holden Link summed up the pitch bluntly during the broadcast: “Our team is dedicated to interactive comedy and celebrating the art of dumb”.
From Floor Plan’s VR Towers to a Controller-Friendly Sandbox
Slap Out of It! is built on the bones of Turbo Button’s own back catalogue. Link explained that the new game is our first time stepping away from virtual reality entirely, though it builds upon our past work while exploring lots of new ideas. Official materials confirm it is inspired and adapted from “Floor Plan,” the hit VR escape game series, and has been dramatically expanded with all-new gameplay and secrets, meticulously redesigned from the ground up for keyboard and controller.
Steam’s store listing spells out the trade-off in plain terms, noting the release is not a VR game and does not have any VR support. Turbo Button itself, in a Steam community post announcing the reveal, told wishlisters that the project builds on our past work, and is adapted from and inspired by our most popular VR game series. It’s got all new mechanics and tons of new surprises… It will be coming to PC and console platforms in 2027.
Puzzlr’s Break Room: How the Slapping Actually Works
Journalists who went hands-on with a demo at Summer Game Fest describe a first-person puzzle office comedy. TechRaptor’s preview explains that players work their first day at puzzle-solving company Puzzlr, playing as an orange-skinned muppet-like creature in a world of similarly weird denizens with even weirder problems. Slapping, it turns out, wasn’t the original design pillar — Link told the outlet the mechanic “was not always the primary mechanic, but it very much became that way over time”.
SideQuesting’s preview corroborates the tone and inspirations, reporting that the developers drew a lot of inspiration from classic point and click adventures like Sam & Max and Monkey Island, as well as comedy movies like Airplane, Naked Gun and Monty Python, and even shows like Taskmaster. Gematsu’s write-up of the reveal materials adds that the game promises six to 10 handcrafted hours of gloriously stupid jokes and memorable “aha” moments.
Regarding scope, Link told TechRaptor the team is aiming to have the final game time be around 6-10 hours, while cautioning that “it varies a lot with puzzle gamers because it can take people different amounts of time to solve puzzles, and some people are also going to be trying to hunt for all the collectibles”.
Ben Starr Narrates the Reveal Trailer
The announcement trailer itself carries a notable voice credit. Per the official press release, the reveal trailer is narrated by professional very serious actor Ben Starr (Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, Hades II), giving players their first extended look at the title’s slapstick problem-solving. Turbo Button later joked on Steam that recording sessions went smoothly, noting “it was a blast working with Ben on the trailer, and he was happy to confirm the game is ‘so stupid'”.
Small Team, 2027 Window and Unconfirmed Console Lineup
Despite the buzz, Turbo Button remains a tiny operation. The studio’s own about page describes itself as a tiny independent studio making silly, charming games that respect your time and attention, and Link confirmed to TechRaptor that they are planning on releasing on console as well as PC, but they’re a four-person indie team, so they’re trying not to over-commit on which specific consoles will get the game.
Gematsu likewise reported the game will launch for unspecified consoles and PC via Steam in 2027, and Turbo Button confirmed on Steam that the game will work great on Steam Deck too. The studio also flagged early press attention from outlets covering Summer Game Fest, noting Game Informer called it “a delightfully funny game” and put us on their “Best of Summer Game Fest” list.
For Australian and New Zealand puzzle fans who cut their teeth on point-and-click classics, Slap Out of It! is already listed for wishlisting on Steam, though no regional pricing or release date beyond the 2027 window has been set. With Turbo Button’s back catalogue built almost entirely for VR headsets, the pivot to a controller-and-keyboard release also opens the door to players in the region who never owned the hardware needed to play Floor Plan in the first place.
