Battlefield 6 Season 4: Pacific Front Launches With Tsuru Reef Map, Two New Boats

Battlefield 6 has taken to the water. Electronic Arts and Battlefield Studios rolled out Game Update 1.4.1.0 on July 21, launching Season 4: Pacific Front and introducing naval combat to the shooter for the first time since its debut last year. The update, confirmed on the official Battlefield.com news page, headlines a new Pacific island map, a wave-driven combat system and two fresh boats for players to commandeer.

Battlefield 6 Game Update 1.4.1.0 launches Season 4: Pacific Front and brings naval warfare to Battlefield 6, with squads fighting across land, air, and sea on Tsuru Reef, a new large-scale Pacific battleground. EA staggered the rollout in two waves: the base update went live at 8:00 UTC across all platforms, while the actual Season 4 content — including the new map, vehicles and Battle Pass — unlocked at 12:00 UTC, with Tsuru Reef, the Dynamic Wave System, the 7.7m NSW RHIB, the RCB-90 Patrol Boat, new weapons, REDSEC updates, Portal features, new rewards, and the Season 4 Battle Pass going live.

Tsuru Reef Is Battlefield 6’s Biggest Map Yet

The season’s centrepiece is Tsuru Reef, a sprawling island chain built specifically around amphibious warfare. According to EA’s own description, players will fight across a sprawling Pacific archipelago dense with luxury bungalows, tropical vegetation, jagged cliffs, and open water, with combat built around land, naval, and air warfare.

Outlets given early hands-on access described the scale as unprecedented for the game. GameRant, which attended a preview event ahead of launch, reported that Tsuru Reef, the map anchoring the season’s return to the water, is gigantic, and noted the map even includes a resort in the center that pays very neat homage to Battlefield 4’s Hainan Resort. ComicBook.com separately confirmed the map’s standing within the current roster, reporting that the update pushed out the new Tsuru Reef map, which is the biggest one that is now seen in Battlefield 6.

Two New Boats and a Dynamic Wave System

Naval combat arrives with a pair of new watercraft. EA’s patch notes describe the RCB-90 Patrol Boat as a two-seat armoured Patrol Boat built for power, pressure, and versatility, able to command the coastline, push through enemy vehicles, or execute flanking manoeuvres from the water. The second vessel, ported over from the battle-royale spin-off REDSEC, is described as a fast and agile four-seat Light Transport Boat built for rapid coastal assaults.

Underpinning the naval combat is a new physics layer EA calls the Dynamic Wave System. ComicBook.com’s rundown of the patch notes confirmed the update improves gameplay tied to vehicle and character movement while in water, with shifting sea conditions altering visibility, firing angles and boat handling around the archipelago’s shoreline. Season 4 also adds three new weapons — the EF88 rifle, VSSM carbine and Brod 3 marksman rifle — alongside two new attachments, giving infantry fresh tools to match the new theatre of combat.

Wake Island and Top Gun Crossover Still to Come

Pacific Front is only the opening act. EA has structured Season 4 into three rolling phases, with Phase 2, dubbed Top Gun, penciled in for August 18 and a third phase, Tidal Strike, following in September. The Top Gun phase will bring back one of the franchise’s most requested maps, Wake Island — an environment EA describes as originating in Battlefield 1942 and previously reimagined in Battlefield V’s War in the Pacific expansion, now rebuilt for Battlefield 6’s scale and systems.

The August update is also expected to add carrier-based aerial combat and licensed Top Gun aircraft, including the F/A-18 Super Hornet and F-14 Tomcat, alongside a new mode built around aircraft-carrier battles. Several outlets tracking early leaks and roadmap teasers, including GamingHQ and Gamereactor, have separately corroborated the phased July–September rollout structure that EA laid out on its own roadmap page.

What It Means for Players in NZ and Australia

For players logging in from New Zealand and Australia, the 12:00 UTC content unlock EA specified for Season 4 landed around midnight in New Zealand and roughly 10pm on the east coast of Australia on the evening of July 21 — meaning most local squads were able to jump onto Tsuru Reef the same night the season went live worldwide, rather than waiting for a delayed regional rollout. As with previous Battlefield 6 updates, the Season 4 content is a free download for all owners on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC, with no separate purchase required to access the new map, boats or wave system.

The naval pivot arrives at a pivotal moment for Battlefield 6, which has spent its first year leaning heavily on live-service updates to keep pace with rivals in the crowded military shooter space. Season 4’s scale — a new archipelago map, dedicated water physics and a multi-month roadmap stretching into a licensed Hollywood crossover — suggests EA is treating Pacific Front as one of the game’s most significant content pushes since launch, rather than a routine seasonal refresh.
