Battlefield 6 Season 4 Naval Warfare: July 21 Date Confirmed, Wake Island Delayed

Battlefield 6’s fourth season, subtitled “Naval Warfare,” has an official launch date of July 21, 2026, across PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC. Electronic Arts has given us our first proper look at Battlefield 6’s naval warfare in action, which will be launching with the game’s fourth season of content on July 21, 2026. The date arrives alongside a new gameplay trailer that finally shows how the shooter is folding ships, waves and carriers into its existing land-and-air formula.

The confirmation follows weeks of teasing from Battlefield Studios, which had already flagged naval combat as the centrepiece of its 2026 roadmap. With Tsuru Reef and Wake Island arriving during the season, players will take the fight across coastal combat spaces built for Battlefield action at scale, designed to bring naval combat into the core experience while still supporting the combined-arms gameplay players expect from Battlefield.

Tsuru Reef Launches Day One as Battlefield 6’s Largest Map

The headline addition on July 21 is Tsuru Reef, a brand-new map set off the coast of southern Japan. The season’s headline addition is the Tsuru Reef map, set off the coast of southern Japan, with the developers describing it as the largest battlefield in Battlefield 6 to date — even larger than “Railway to Golmud” from Season 3, which was itself nearly four times the size of “Mirak Valley.”

Beyond raw scale, the map is built to make ships a genuine part of the objective flow rather than window dressing. The map features islands, open waters, and beaches suitable for amphibious landings, supporting boats, aircraft, armored vehicles, and infantry maneuvers, with a dynamic wave system that impacts gameplay and offers tactical advantages. Aircraft carriers with working flight decks are also part of the package, giving squads a mobile base to launch jets and helicopters from mid-battle.

Wake Island Returns, But Not on Naval Warfare’s Launch Day

Players expecting the classic Wake Island map on day one will have to wait. Battlefield Studios has structured the season as a staged rollout, with the fan-favourite map arriving in a later content phase rather than alongside the July 21 launch. Wake Island returns later in Season 4, reimagined for Battlefield 6; as one of Battlefield’s most recognizable locations, Wake Island carries a long history for the franchise, and for its return the team is updating the map for the scale, systems, and modern setting of Battlefield 6 while preserving the identity that has made it a fan-favorite across the series.

The rebuilt map isn’t a simple visual refresh — it’s being reworked specifically around ship-to-ship combat. This version of Wake Island is being built with Naval Warfare in mind, with carrier-based headquarters helping frame the fight from both sides of the island while additional changes to the combat space support naval engagements around the map. An exact date for its arrival hasn’t been locked in yet.

RCB-90 Patrol Boat, Torpedoes and the Interdictor Sniper Rifle

Naval Warfare brings a dedicated vehicle roster rather than reused land hardware. Two types of watercraft have been prepared for naval operations, with the RCB-90 a patrol boat equipped with a cannon, twin heavy mortars, and guided torpedoes that can also deploy naval mines and serve as a spawn point. A lighter transport craft rounds out the pair for players who want speed over firepower.

On land, the season is adding four new weapons, with one already confirmed by name. The arsenal is expanding with four new weapons, among them the Interdictor long-range sniper rifle. According to dataminers, the season will also introduce the EF88 Assault Rifle, BREN 3 Carbine, and VSSM DMR, though the developers have not yet revealed the full list.

Ranked Battle Royale and REDSEC Get a Season 4 Refresh

Competitive modes aren’t being left out of the update. The update also affects the REDSEC battle royale mode, with Season 4 introducing a new ranked season featuring exclusive rewards, building on ranked matchmaking that was previously added to REDSEC to make the mode even more competitive. Battlefield Studios has not detailed the full reward track, but it shares the same seasonal calendar as the core Battle Pass.

For Australian and New Zealand players planning around the launch, July 21 is a Tuesday, and past Battlefield 6 seasonal updates have typically gone live in the early-to-mid afternoon local time once EA’s global rollout reaches the region — worth keeping an eye on the official Battlefield social accounts closer to the date for the exact regional server switch-over, since a maritime-heavy map with long sightlines and boat traffic will put connection quality under a sharper spotlight than the game’s existing land maps.
