EPOS, producers of high end gaming headsets have released what could be the ultimate solution for gamers that might have a kick-ass RIG but lack the onboard audio.

The EPOS GSX-300 is an external soundcard which plugs in to your PC or laptop via USB 2.0 to USB-C.

Windows 10 will automatically detect the EPOS GSX-300 and if you like you can start using it straight away.

But for the full effect and purpose of what the GSX-300 is you’ll need to grab the downloadable EPOS Gaming Suite software where the single smart button on the front of the unit can be set to either change sound modes from 2.0 to 7.1 audio output. It’s also within this Suite each audio channel can be tweaked and customized to your liking.

The almost palm sized device is an intermediary between your PC / Laptop and headphones / mic via 3.5mm connection.

Specifically designed for gaming the GSX-300 will require a 3.5mm split cable for both the headphone and mic, which is sold separately.

For gaming on 7.1 it performs an excellent 2 channel to 7.1 real well.

But audio streaming, local playlist or streaming was only a real subtle difference.

Media watching such as Netflix in 5.1 was pretty good – the GSX-300 handles well converting to 7.1. YouTube, no difference.

EPOS offer up an audio experience that your internal soundcard may not be able to do.

I would have liked to see a USB headset connectivity option to connect newer Gaming Headsets that may not have the 3.5mm socket option on the GSX-300.

Nonetheless plug in your 2 or 2.1 channel headphones or speakers and game, stream or rock out in virtual 7.1 surround.

The audiophile pioneers of super quality Sennheiser are making a steady advance in to the eSports, console and PC gaming market with their gamer headsets.

The German company have producing top shelf audio gear for decades, from speaker systems through to over-head and inner ear wired and wireless headsets.

Following on from their last release of the GSP 670 Sennheiser have now released the Sennheiser GSP 370 at a lower price point.

The Sennheiser GSP 370 are an over-the-head large aviator type wireless headset which can be used on PC, Linux, Mac and PS4.

The large, yet almost weightless and foldable GSP 370s come with a USB dongle that auto-pair with the headphones.

PC with Windows 10 installed recognised the dongle immediately and installed the necessary drivers. After a firmware update fresh from the box and a PC restart all was good to go. There is also a Sennheiser GSP 370 Dashboard software to tune and work with your new shiny gamer gear.

Mac was similar – except the firmware upgrade was more manual (and painful).

As I preferred to use on PC, this is where the review will be based.

The GSP 370 has a swivel and large boom mic delivering both detail and clarity to your voice. The memory foam large ear cups suction on so comfortably that there is no aggravation to your ears even after a lengthy epic battle.

What’s more the GSP 370s outdo any competitor on the play field with its astounding 100 hours battery life.

The headset does come with a 1.5 meter wired cable for charging and if you manage to drain them flat, the recharge time on USB 3.0 is roughly 2 hours. You can still use the GSP 370s while they are cabled in for charging, you know, if you just can’t the leave the game.

Having the GSP 370s sent from Sennheisser around three weeks ago and using them every day on Borderlands 3 bouts, media watching and music, I started to wonder if they would ever run flat. They did just shy of two weeks later.

The audio supremacy of the GSP 370s is second to none.

This possible by the builtin speaker drivers and subs and the mentioned memory foam which will block out any background noise and immerse you totally in that audio heaven.

Your ears will rumble with every explosion, rejoice at that catchy track on your playlist as you hear even the finer instruments being played. Placing the caliber sound quality in to words is a difficult thing – the GSP 370s are an experience you need to have.

With 5.1 and 7.1 compatibility, it shines through when deep in gameplay and of course if watching streaming film or TV.

Being a larger headset, some maybe put off by the girth, don’t be – they are adjustable and should fit most.

The Sennheiser GSP 370 are a huge cut above the rest and give you that upper hand to hear minute detail, especially handy if an opponent is trying to be stealthy.

You’re not inferior in your chosen game battles so don’t be inferior in your gaming peripheral arsenal.

The Sennheiser GSP 370s is where your senses need to be at.

Back when headphone manufacturers just made headphones, Sennheiser took the lead and produced German engineered audio exquisite-ness.

Elite personal audio for the masses and to this day, Sennhieser continues their tradition unwavered.

STG received a set of Sennheiser Momentum Free. Sennheiser’s top shelf bluetooth, wireless inner-earphones.

From the box, the quality of the Momentum Free is apparent.

Black with an accent of red and an almost diamante-chrome finish on either earbud these stainless steel built earphones shimmer outwardly like a million dollars.

Within the box is a leather zip carry case and extra rubber ear buds for all sizes and comfort.

Pairing up the Sennheiser Momentum Free is super simple with any bluetooth enabled device.

There is a two step process however if you want to get the maximum sound from the Momentum Free.

First is the connectivity to your smart device (I paired up with a Samsung Note8) and once this is done, get the Official CapTune from Sennheiser from either the App Store for iPhone / iPad or Google Play for Android.

This App built by Sennheiser themselves, features an audio player for your personal music (also works with streaming too) aswell as an FX filter and EQ.

I tried using the Momentum Free first without the App – and was wowed by the low bass, the clarity of the higher notes and depth of sound. Then with the CapTune App I was able to utilise the builtin filtering and play around with the sound tweaking to get me to a point of immersive audio heaven.

The Momentum Free is built for on the go. Extremely light-weight and one adjustable cable for around the back of the neck.

Audio controls are on the cable, for volume, play / pause and a long tap on either Volume button enables you to change track.

The audio remote also doubles as a answer function for hands free calling.

The Sennheiser Momentum Free does not sacrifice audio quality being wireless and during my daily use of the rechargeable inner-earphones, there was never any drop in connection.

The life-span of the battery will see you right for six hours. This was a little on the low side when compared to some other bluetooth headsets that STG has reviewed over the years.

This said, I got more than six hours out of a single full charge – around nine.

The Sennheiser Momentum Free also produce cinematic sound with your video playing or media streaming and superb for mobile on-the-go game playing too.

Using the handsfree function did not produce the same high quality results as music and there were a couple of occasions where there was no sound at all (unable to hear the caller) so this meant that I had to turn off the bluetooth connection on the phone and take the call like a normal person.

The CapTune App, for Android on the Samsung Note8 running 8.0 (Oreo) froze and locked up a few times and would systematically play a single track only, or the first few seconds of a track repeatedly even after the App had crashed, resulting in having to restart the phone to stop the song or bits of a song from playing. Setting up on an iPad with the Captune App saw no issues at all – so I place this down to Android only.

Bearing in mind that the CapTune App is not necessary to use the Momentum Free you can expect HQ Studio grade audio from the precision-built inner-earphones.

A full recommend to owning a set of these if you are one to be audio streaming or playlist smashing on the go often.

I have never come across a bluetooth inner-earphone that has the comfort and audio capability that the Sennheiser Momentum Free does and at a reasonable price tag of just over $300.00 AUD.

Designed for music and those that truly appreciate audio.
