The timing is deliberate. Stage 1 kicks off a high-stakes five-week stretch leading into the next global international event, and ZOWIE’s monitors will be front and centre throughout. The monitor going on stage is the ZOWIE XL2566X+, which sits at the top of the company’s current lineup. The monitor also includes enhanced colour modes tailored specifically for FPS titles.

For context, ZOWIE claims that 70% of professional FPS players use its products, a figure the brand has leaned on for years to reinforce its position in the competitive space. Whether or not you take that number at face value, the company’s presence at major tournaments is hard to dispute.

ZOWIE’s Broader Competitive Footprint

The VCT Americas deal does not exist in isolation. ZOWIE already maintains partnerships with professional organisations including ENVY and Sentinels, ensuring its monitors are validated through daily use in scrims and ranked play, not just on broadcast stages. Zekken first joined Sentinels in late 2022 after an impressive stint with XSET, a team that was dominant in the pre-franchise era. Known for his confident playstyle and flexible agent pool, he initially shared Duelist duties with Tyson “TenZ” Ngo before later transitioning into hybrid roles.

His defining year came in 2024, when Sentinels lifted two major trophies: VCT Americas Kickoff and Masters Madrid. Those victories marked the organisation’s first titles since 2021 and cemented zekken’s reputation as one of the world’s premier Duelists.

Sentinels are gearing up for major roster experiments ahead of the 2026 VALORANT Champions Tour season. In a recent update, the organisation’s Co-owner and CEO, Rob Moore, confirmed that the team will be testing several players from its academy programme to see which line-up combinations have the most potential moving forward.

Moore shared the update on X (formerly Twitter), noting that while star players Zachary ‘zekken’ Patrone and team captain Mohammed ‘johnqt’ Amine Quario are travelling this week, the Cubert Academy roster will get the chance to trial with the main Sentinels team. Head Coach Adam ‘kaplan’ Kaplan and his staff will be evaluating how each academy member performs in scrims and practice matches.

“While Zekken and Johnqt are travelling this week, we will be giving some of the Cubert Academy players the opportunity to trial with the main roster,” Moore explained. “Kaplan and the group are evaluating which roster combinations they believe have the most potential for 2026 and beyond. We’ll definitely be keeping TacticalRab and VCT Scrims busy as you’ll see a lot of variation. Try and hang in there, you’ll hear from us soon.”

Leviatán has officially opened the door for several of its VALORANT stars to explore opportunities elsewhere, following a tough run in 2025 that left the squad outside of Champions contention.

The organisation confirmed that Corbin “C0M” Lee, Anthony “okeanos” Nguyen, Ian “tex” Botsch, head coach Casper “Desmo” Rasmussen, and assistant coach “meco1e” are free to weigh up their futures as restricted free agents. This means they’re still under contract, but permitted to talk to other organisations ahead of the 2026 VCT season.

A Changing of the Guard

C0M, best known for his title-winning run with Evil Geniuses at Champions 2023, joined Leviatán in 2024 and quickly became one of the team’s anchors. Alongside world champion aspas, he helped the squad lift the VCT Americas Stage 2 trophy in 2024 before finishing third at Champions Seoul. Despite his success, C0M has made it clear he’s open to playing any role, even stepping up as an IGL in any region if the right opportunity comes his way.

Tex has been with Leviatán since late 2023, holding down the Sentinel role through some of the organisation’s biggest highs. It’s not just the players. Head coach Desmo, who helped steady the team after a rocky Stage 1, is also part of the group allowed to explore options. Desmo previously worked with Apeks, where he lifted EMEA Ascension, and was credited for turning Leviatán’s form around midseason. This marks the first time Sentinels have ventured into anime-inspired merch, and the timing couldn’t be better. The collection launched on 22 August, lining up perfectly with the team’s VALORANT Champions Tour (VCT) Americas Stage 2 Playoffs run.

What’s in the collection?

Fans can pick from two hoodies, a short-sleeve graphic tee, two performance jerseys, two sets of athletic shorts, and even a custom water bottle.

Sentinels’ red-and-black branding naturally fits with Nekoma, one of the rival schools in Haikyuu!!: The Dumpster Battle, the anime’s latest film, which has already made more than $125 million worldwide. The drop also includes merch celebrating Karasuno, the main team in the series.

Popular esports titles are no strangers either. Overwatch 2 has rolled out anime-inspired skins from Gundam, One Punch Man, Cowboy Bebop, and My Hero Academia. PUBG Mobile launched an Attack on Titan update earlier this year, and Call of Duty Mobile has featured Gundam collabs as well.

A wider cultural trend

This kind of crossover reflects the bigger picture, esports mixing more and more with mainstream pop culture. Just recently, League of Legends legend Faker appeared in a Stray Kids K-pop music video, proving how gaming and wider fandoms are increasingly intertwined.

The VALORANT esports scene had a bit of a stir this week when reports started circulating about a big change potentially coming to the VCT Americas. A Brazilian esports news account claimed Riot Games was looking at breaking up the league after the 2026 season, giving South America its own franchised competition.

According to the report, Riot had even been in touch with Tier 2 organisations in the region, asking about the costs of running rosters and infrastructure. The supposed goal? To give Brazil and South America a stronger competitive foundation in VALORANT, something the region has a proud history in, thanks to years of success in tactical shooters like CS2 and Rainbow Six Siege.

The post quickly gained traction, with some fans getting excited about more resources heading to South America, while others rolled their eyes at the idea of another franchised league. Franchising has always been a hot topic in esports, loved by some for its stability, loathed by others who prefer an open system like Counter-Strike’s.

But Riot has now stepped in to set the record straight. Leo Faria, Global Head of VALORANT Esports, replied to a post from Valorant news source ValorIntel, making it clear the rumour isn’t true.

3. Click it and log in with your Riot ID.
4. You’re in! Now, whenever predictions pop up, just lock in your answer before the timer runs out.

The second week of VCT Americas Stage 2 has concluded almost instantly, with every single match ending in a 2-0 sweep. Here are the result:

North America is dominating in the second week, meanwhile Brazil’s representatives are stuck as their chances of playing in the playoffs grow slimmer. LOUD, 2Game Esports, MIBR, and Furia are now in the bottom four of the current standings.

The two Ascension teams squared up in a duel between 2Game Esports and G2 Esports to start the action. JonahP led the charge with a 1.44 rating and 38 kills as G2 won in less than 40 rounds.

2Game is fighting for a playoff spot and a chance to keep their VCT spot for 2026. If both teams make it to Champions and 2Game finishes higher than G2, they’ll keep their VCT slot. If not, only G2 will return next season, and 2Game may have to go through Ascension again.

Later that day, Sentinels swept FURIA 2-0, crushing them. After winning 13–4 on Sunset, they got off to a great start, then delivered the region’s second-ever 13-0 to close the series.

The North American teams in Group Omega performed admirably as well. With the acquisition of Kess, 100 Thieves defeated KRÜ Esports 2-0 and continued their winning streak. By sweeping LOUD, which included a flawless performance on Haven and a victory on Corrode, a map both teams were making their stage debuts on, NRG secured their first victory of the year.

As the only team in the group with a spotless record thus far, 100 Thieves now leads Group Omega after that victory. While NRG’s victory prevented LOUD from catching up to their regional competitors, the outcome also allowed them to overtake KRÜ in the overall rankings.

Both Cloud9 and LEVIATÁN concluded the week with 2-0 victories, Cloud9 defeating Evil Geniuses and LEVIATÁN defeating MIBR. Both teams achieved their first head-to-head victory of the season against their opponents. Cloud9 has taken the lead in Group Alpha, and LEVIATÁN has finally won their first series.
