ZOWIE has locked in a multi-year partnership with Riot Games to become the official monitor of the VALORANT Champions Tour Americas. The deal means every professional match at the Riot Games Arena in Los Angeles will be played on ZOWIE’s flagship hardware, starting with VCT Americas Stage 1 on 10 April.

ZOWIE is now the Official Monitor Partner of VCT Americas.

With roots in the FPS community, ZOWIE ensures every product addresses the true demands of competitive play. We are dedicated to designing professional esports equipment for FPS players, and that’s why we’re partnering… pic.twitter.com/ri9v7sgXJ6

— ZOWIE Esports North America (@ZOWIEbyBenQUSA) April 7, 2026

The timing is deliberate. Stage 1 kicks off a high-stakes five-week stretch leading into the next global international event, and ZOWIE’s monitors will be front and centre throughout. It is a significant get for the BenQ-owned brand, placing its gear on one of the most visible stages in competitive VALORANT.

What Hardware The Pros Will Be Using

The monitor going on stage is the ZOWIE XL2566X+, which sits at the top of the company’s current lineup. It runs a 400Hz Fast TN panel at native 1080p and features DyAc 2 technology, ZOWIE’s proprietary motion clarity system designed to reduce blur during fast-paced gameplay. The monitor also includes enhanced colour modes tailored specifically for FPS titles.

For context, ZOWIE claims that 70% of professional FPS players use its products, a figure the brand has leaned on for years to reinforce its position in the competitive space. Whether or not you take that number at face value, the company’s presence at major tournaments is hard to dispute.

ZOWIE’s Broader Competitive Footprint

The VCT Americas deal does not exist in isolation. ZOWIE already maintains partnerships with professional organisations including ENVY and Sentinels, ensuring its monitors are validated through daily use in scrims and ranked play, not just on broadcast stages. That kind of integration matters because it means pro players are already familiar with the hardware before they sit down for an official match.

Read More: ESL Expands ZOWIE Partnership For All CS2 Events Through 2027

ZOWIE was also an official partner at the StarLadder Major Budapest 2025, where the company outlined its broader strategy of embedding itself within competitive communities rather than simply slapping a logo on events.

The Monitor Arms Race in Esports

ZOWIE’s move comes during what has become an aggressive global race for monitor dominance across esports. LG Electronics recently renewed its decade-long partnership with Brazilian organisation MIBR to keep its UltraGear line in the competitive spotlight, while ASUS ROG has expanded through title sponsorships for the NECC National Championships and a full-season deal with BLAST for Counter-Strike 2.

Samsung has pushed into the Nordic scene through a partnership with Metizport, and AGON by AOC has secured collaborations with both Gaimin Gladiators and Method. Even consumer television brands like TCL are entering the space, most recently through a sponsorship with Brazilian powerhouse FURIA. Display technology has clearly become a competitive differentiator that hardware companies are willing to invest heavily in, and locking down a league-wide partnership like VCT Americas is about as high-profile as it gets.

Aim Challenge Gives Fans a Shot at VIP Access

To mark the partnership launch, ZOWIE has teamed up with ENVY and 2023 VALORANT World Champion Max “Demon1” Mazanov for the Aim Challenge, running from now until 5 May. The challenge tasks players with clearing 50 bots in the VALORANT Range as quickly and precisely as possible.

The top three scorers will each receive an XL2566X+ monitor. The overall winner gets a trip to the VCT Americas Stage 1 Qualifiers at Riot Games Arena, VIP meet-and-greet access with ENVY players, a signed jersey from Demon1, and limited-edition ZOWIE merchandise. The challenge will also have an on-site presence at the VCT Americas fan event in Los Angeles during the Stage 1 Playoffs, where attendees can try the XL2566X+ at the ZOWIE booth.

What This Means For VCT Americas Stage 1

With Stage 1 beginning on 10 April, the partnership goes live almost immediately. Bear Jemison, Head of VALORANT Esports Americas, noted that having ZOWIE’s monitors as part of the competitive fleet will elevate the experience for teams heading into a stretch that directly feeds into the next global event. For ZOWIE, the deal is a clear statement of intent in a crowded market, and for fans tuning in, it is another layer of production value on one of the biggest stages in tactical shooter esports.

After three years of highlights, heartbreaks, and international battles, Zachary “zekken” Patrone has officially parted ways with Sentinels, marking the end of an era for one of North America’s most electric VALORANT players.

A Farewell Fit for a Star

Sentinels confirmed the news with a heartfelt post on X, thanking their long-time Duelist and recognising his legacy within the organisation.

You set the bar for what it means to be a Sentinel

There will always be a key to the city for you @zekkenVAL pic.twitter.com/mHtOuN2gsE

— Sentinels (@Sentinels) November 1, 2025

The 20-year-old departs as a free agent after his contract expired at the end of the 2025 VCT season. His time with Sentinels saw the organisation return to the top of the Americas region, and at one point, reclaim their status as one of the most feared teams in global VALORANT.

From XSET Prodigy to Sentinels Star

Zekken first joined Sentinels in late 2022 after an impressive stint with XSET, a team that was dominant in the pre-franchise era. Known for his confident playstyle and flexible agent pool, he initially shared Duelist duties with Tyson “TenZ” Ngo before later transitioning into hybrid roles.

His defining year came in 2024, when Sentinels lifted two major trophies: VCT Americas Kickoff and Masters Madrid. Those victories marked the organisation’s first titles since 2021 and cemented zekken’s reputation as one of the world’s premier Duelists.

Sentinels also achieved a respectable fourth-place finish at Champions Seoul 2024, closing the year as one of the most successful teams globally.

The Rebuild Year

However, 2025 proved more turbulent. After veterans TenZ and Sacy retired, Sentinels underwent a soft rebuild, introducing new faces while retaining core leadership in Johnqt and Kaplan. The team remained competitive but struggled to maintain consistency on the international stage.

Despite qualifying for every major event that year, Sentinels couldn’t replicate their 2024 form. They finished as runners-up at both the Americas Kickoff and Stage 1, followed by a third-place result in Stage 2. Internationally, they exited early at Masters Bangkok, placed 5th–6th at Masters Toronto, and failed to advance past groups at Champions Seoul.

With Zellsis departing to Cloud9 and Bang moving on earlier in the offseason, zekken’s exit now marks a full transition period for the squad.

The Next Chapter: MIBR on the Horizon

According to reports from THESPIKE.GG and Brazilian journalist Bruno Povoleri, zekken is expected to join MIBR, forming a new superteam alongside world champion Erick “aspas” Santos.

The move would unite two of the most mechanically gifted players in the Americas, sparking excitement, and plenty of memes, across social media.

Fans have already dubbed the potential roster “MIBR Zekken,” with comments flooding Sentinels’ farewell post:

“MIBR ARE WINNING IT ALL.”
“Sad to see him go, but happy to see him with aspas again.”
“O7 King. End of an era.”

If confirmed, the transfer could make MIBR one of the top contenders heading into VCT 2026, especially given aspas’ championship pedigree and zekken’s aggressive versatility.

What’s Next for Sentinels

For Sentinels, all eyes are now on their next rebuild phase. Reports suggest the team will retain Marshall “N4RRATE” Massey and Mohamed “johnqt” Ouarid, with potential additions including former MIBR player Gabriel “qck” Cortez and IGL Mirel “braco” Hrustemovic.

Head coach Adam “Kaplan” Kaplan and assistant Luke “GUNTER” Clives are also expected to continue leading the lineup into 2026, aiming to restore Sentinels’ international dominance.

Despite the shakeup, Sentinels’ fanbase remains as passionate as ever, a testament to how deeply players like zekken have defined the team’s identity.

End of an Era, Start of Another

Zekken’s departure feels bittersweet for many fans. While it marks the close of a memorable chapter for Sentinels, it also opens a new one filled with potential. Whether he’s repping the red of Sentinels or the green and yellow of MIBR, one thing is certain, zekken’s story in VALORANT is far from over.

Sen City, over the next few weeks, you can expect to see a lot of speculation regarding our roster for next season.
— Rob Moore (@robmooreEsports) October 8, 2025

Moore shared the update on X (formerly Twitter), noting that while star players Zachary ‘zekken’ Patrone and team captain Mohammed ‘johnqt’ Amine Quario are travelling this week, the Cubert Academy roster will get the chance to trial with the main Sentinels team. Head Coach Adam ‘kaplan’ Kaplan and his staff will be evaluating how each academy member performs in scrims and practice matches.

“While Zekken and Johnqt are travelling this week, we will be giving some of the Cubert Academy players the opportunity to trial with the main roster,” Moore explained. “Kaplan and the group are evaluating which roster combinations they believe have the most potential for 2026 and beyond. We’ll definitely be keeping TacticalRab and VCT Scrims busy as you’ll see a lot of variation. Try and hang in there, you’ll hear from us soon.”

Among those expected to get trial opportunities are:

Yassin ‘reduxx’ Aboulalazm

Marc-Andre ‘NiSMO’ Tayar

Christian ‘nightz’ Smith

Mirel ‘Kyu’ Braco Hrustemovic

‘satellite’

The announcement follows a mixed 2025 season for Sentinels. The team managed to qualify for every international VALORANT event, but ultimately fell short of any major championship wins.

Reflecting on 2024’s Highs and 2025’s Challenges

In 2024, Sentinels were at the top of their game, taking home both a domestic and an international title. They claimed victory at the VCT Americas Kickoff, defeating LOUD 3–2 in a dramatic Grand Final, and later secured the VALORANT Masters Madrid championship after another 3–2 win against Gen.G Esports. The team also placed a respectable fourth at VALORANT Champions 2024.

However, 2025 proved to be more of a grind. Despite strong performances, the squad couldn’t convert any of their runs into trophies. Sentinels placed second in the VCT Americas Kickoff, seventh at Masters Bangkok, and second again at Americas Stage 1 after falling to G2 Esports 1–3. They finished sixth at Masters Toronto, fifth at the Esports World Cup, and third in Americas Stage 2.

Their season ended on a disappointing note with an early exit from VALORANT Champions 2025, where they were eliminated in the Group Stage, finishing among the bottom eight teams.

Fans React and Look Ahead

Moore’s transparency about the team’s next steps has been met with appreciation from fans online, many praising the open communication during what’s likely a pivotal off-season. Some have even thrown in their own suggestions for roster moves, with one viral reply urging Sentinels to sign Brazilian superstar aspas.

While there’s no word yet on permanent roster changes, Moore’s comments make it clear that Sentinels are taking a methodical approach toward rebuilding for 2026, and fans can expect plenty of variation in scrims over the coming weeks.

Leviatán has officially opened the door for several of its VALORANT stars to explore opportunities elsewhere, following a tough run in 2025 that left the squad outside of Champions contention.

🚨 c0m has announced that he will be looking for a new team for the VCT 2026 season as Leviatán is allowing him to explore his options pic.twitter.com/a4n57uAUy2

— Valorant News (@ValorINTEL) September 4, 2025

The organisation confirmed that Corbin “C0M” Lee, Anthony “okeanos” Nguyen, Ian “tex” Botsch, head coach Casper “Desmo” Rasmussen, and assistant coach “meco1e” are free to weigh up their futures as restricted free agents. This means they’re still under contract, but permitted to talk to other organisations ahead of the 2026 VCT season.

A Changing of the Guard

C0M, best known for his title-winning run with Evil Geniuses at Champions 2023, joined Leviatán in 2024 and quickly became one of the team’s anchors. Alongside world champion aspas, he helped the squad lift the VCT Americas Stage 2 trophy in 2024 before finishing third at Champions Seoul. Despite his success, C0M has made it clear he’s open to playing any role, even stepping up as an IGL in any region if the right opportunity comes his way.

Tex has been with Leviatán since late 2023, holding down the Sentinel role through some of the organisation’s biggest highs. Before joining, he helped The Guard secure Americas Ascension and also had stints with NRG. After nearly two years with LEV, he’s now ready to explore what the 2026 VCT season has to offer.

The most recent addition, okeanos, joined earlier this year as part of a midseason rebuild. Despite limited time with the roster, he impressed as a flexible piece, swapping between Duelist, Controller, and Initiator roles. Before Leviatán, he made waves in Challengers with M80 and Blinn Esports, and he’s already made it clear he’s looking to continue in similar roles next year.

Coaching Staff Also on the Move

It’s not just the players. Head coach Desmo, who helped steady the team after a rocky Stage 1, is also part of the group allowed to explore options. Desmo previously worked with Apeks, where he lifted EMEA Ascension, and was credited for turning Leviatán’s form around midseason. His assistant, meco1e, is also seeking a new role, noting that he’s open to opportunities at both international and Challengers levels.

Leviatán’s 2025 Struggles

This roster shift comes after Leviatán endured a frustrating 2025 campaign. The squad missed out on all three international events: falling short at Kickoff, Stage 1, and most notably failing to qualify for Champions Paris. This was a steep drop from the heights of 2024, when the team won VCT Americas Stage 2 and secured a podium finish at Champions Seoul.

As of now, only Francisco “kiNgg” Aravena and Eduardo “Sato” Nagahama Sato remain on Leviatán’s active roster. With so much veteran talent and coaching experience moving into free agency, the offseason could see one of the most dramatic reshuffles in recent VCT history.

What’s Next for the 2026 VCT Season?

The upcoming 2026 VCT season is shaping up to be a fresh start not just for Leviatán but for the wider Americas scene. With proven players like C0M, tex, and okeanos now on the market, it’s almost certain other organisations will be watching closely. Whether Leviatán opts for another rebuild or leans on its remaining core, one thing is clear, the team has some big decisions to make before next year kicks off.

This marks the first time Sentinels have ventured into anime-inspired merch, and the timing couldn’t be better. The collection launched on 22 August, lining up perfectly with the team’s VALORANT Champions Tour (VCT) Americas Stage 2 Playoffs run.

What’s in the collection?

Fans can pick from two hoodies, a short-sleeve graphic tee, two performance jerseys, two sets of athletic shorts, and even a custom water bottle.

Sentinels’ red-and-black branding naturally fits with Nekoma, one of the rival schools in Haikyuu!!: The Dumpster Battle, the anime’s latest film, which has already made more than $125 million worldwide.
Why this collab works

Sentinels’ CEO Rob Moore explained the crossover:

“This partnership with Haikyu!! and Crunchyroll is a celebration of two communities built on passion, teamwork, and competition. Anime and esports share the same cultural energy, and we’re excited to give our fans a collection that unites those worlds in an authentic and meaningful way.”

It’s an authentic match-up. Anime and esports communities overlap heavily, with many players and fans equally invested in both cultures.

Anime and esports crossovers are on the rise

While it’s a debut for Sentinels, anime x esports collabs are nothing new. Crunchyroll has been at the forefront, teaming up with FURIA and TSM for My Hero Academia collections, and running activations at the Esports World Cup earlier this year.

Other big names have joined in too. Cloud9 released a collection with One Piece, while Team Liquid has partnered with Naruto Shippuden and Death Note for both clothing and gaming gear.

Popular esports titles are no strangers either. Overwatch 2 has rolled out anime-inspired skins from Gundam, One Punch Man, Cowboy Bebop, and My Hero Academia. PUBG Mobile launched an Attack on Titan update earlier this year, and Call of Duty Mobile has featured Gundam collabs as well.

A wider cultural trend

This kind of crossover reflects the bigger picture, esports mixing more and more with mainstream pop culture. Just recently, League of Legends legend Faker appeared in a Stray Kids K-pop music video, proving how gaming and wider fandoms are increasingly intertwined.

For Sentinels, this debut anime partnership is more than just merch, it’s a signal of how esports teams are embracing the shared passions of their fans. And given the hype around this collab, it likely won’t be their last.

The VALORANT esports scene had a bit of a stir this week when reports started circulating about a big change potentially coming to the VCT Americas. A Brazilian esports news account claimed Riot Games was looking at breaking up the league after the 2026 season, giving South America its own franchised competition.

Riot Games reportedly aims to create a franchised league in South America for VALORANT Esports

▪️ Would happen after 2026 season (franchise contracts end)

▪️ Would break up VCT Americas to allow SA teams to participate

▪️ Riot has been in contact with Tier 2 orgs to try and… pic.twitter.com/rYc7uKyQbv

— Valorant News (@ValorINTEL) August 11, 2025

According to the report, Riot had even been in touch with Tier 2 organisations in the region, asking about the costs of running rosters and infrastructure. The supposed goal? To give Brazil and South America a stronger competitive foundation in VALORANT, something the region has a proud history in, thanks to years of success in tactical shooters like CS2 and Rainbow Six Siege.

The post quickly gained traction, with some fans getting excited about more resources heading to South America, while others rolled their eyes at the idea of another franchised league. Franchising has always been a hot topic in esports, loved by some for its stability, loathed by others who prefer an open system like Counter-Strike’s.

But Riot has now stepped in to set the record straight. Leo Faria, Global Head of VALORANT Esports, replied to a post from Valorant news source ValorIntel, making it clear the rumour isn’t true.

This is top of mind for us and changes are coming in 2027 to address it. But this report is false.

— Leo Faria (@lhfaria) August 11, 2025

So, while it’s clear Riot has plans for the region down the line, a South American franchised league isn’t one of them, at least not for now. The current franchise contracts run until the end of 2026, and it’s likely we won’t know exactly what’s next for VCT until much closer to that date.

For now, South American VALORANT fans will just have to wait and see what changes 2027 actually brings.

It’s still in beta, and for now, it’s only available via desktop, but if you’re a VALORANT fan who lives and breathes the pro scene, this might just become your new favourite feature.

Introducing Shotcall!

We’re gamifying the VCT viewing experience with four limited beta streams for #VCTAmericas. Predict live match moments and compete against other viewers, all without leaving the stream.

What’s Shotcall?

Shotcall is a real-time prediction game you play while watching VCT Americas on Twitch. As the game plays out, you’ll get chances to guess what happens next, like which team takes the next round, who nails the clutch, or how many kills a player might snag.

Nail the right call, and you’ll score points. Stack enough of those and you’ll climb the leaderboard, flexing your VCT knowledge against other fans.

How do I use it?

It’s pretty straightforward:

Head over to any of the three official VCT Americas Twitch channels (English, Spanish, or Portuguese).

Hover over the video player – a red crystal ball icon will pop up in the top left corner.

Click it and log in with your Riot ID.

You’re in! Now, whenever predictions pop up, just lock in your answer before the timer runs out.

Don’t forget to enable audio, it helps you catch prediction prompts in time, so you don’t miss out on points.

Shotcall Fridays – Mark Your Calendar

The beta is rolling out slowly, with four test sessions lined up:

August 8

August 15

August 22

August 29

These test runs will only be on Fridays and only through the VCT Americas streams. If all goes well, Riot’s aiming to expand Shotcall to other leagues and more languages in the near future.

Rewards (for now)

At the moment, there’s just one reward planned across the four Shotcall Fridays. That said, Riot’s already promised bigger, better goodies down the track, so consider this a warm-up round.

Something not working?

If the extension doesn’t show up, click the little puzzle icon on the right side of the video (that’s the Twitch extension controls), then make sure Shotcall is set to Visible. That usually sorts it out.

Be Part of the Feedback Loop

Riot’s asking the community for feedback during this beta phase. You might spot survey links after each map ends, chuck your thoughts in there, or just yell them out in Twitch chat like we usually do.

So, if you reckon you’ve got a sixth sense for VALORANT plays, or you just want something fun to do while watching matches, give Shotcall a go this Friday. Who knows? You might just top the leaderboard.

The second week of VCT Americas Stage 2 has concluded almost instantly, with every single match ending in a 2-0 sweep. Here are the result:

2Game Esports 0-2 G2 Esports

FURIA 0-2 Sentinels

100 Thieves 2-0 KRÜ Esports

NRG 2-0 LOUD

Cloud9 2-0 Evil Geniuses

MIBR 0-2 LEVIATÁN

North America is dominating in the second week, meanwhile Brazil’s representatives are stuck as their chances of playing in the playoffs grow slimmer. LOUD, 2Game Esports, MIBR, and Furia are now in the bottom four of the current standings.

The two Ascension teams squared up in a duel between 2Game Esports and G2 Esports to start the action. JonahP led the charge with a 1.44 rating and 38 kills as G2 won in less than 40 rounds.

2Game is fighting for a playoff spot and a chance to keep their VCT spot for 2026. If both teams make it to Champions and 2Game finishes higher than G2, they’ll keep their VCT slot. If not, only G2 will return next season, and 2Game may have to go through Ascension again.

Later that day, Sentinels swept FURIA 2-0, crushing them. After winning 13–4 on Sunset, they got off to a great start, then delivered the region’s second-ever 13-0 to close the series.

OUR FIRST 13-0 SINCE 2023! 📢📢📢 @Sentinels take the series 2-0!!! pic.twitter.com/ptLauYiDV8

The North American teams in Group Omega performed admirably as well. With the acquisition of Kess, 100 Thieves defeated KRÜ Esports 2-0 and continued their winning streak. By sweeping LOUD, which included a flawless performance on Haven and a victory on Corrode, a map both teams were making their stage debuts on, NRG secured their first victory of the year.

As the only team in the group with a spotless record thus far, 100 Thieves now leads Group Omega after that victory. While NRG’s victory prevented LOUD from catching up to their regional competitors, the outcome also allowed them to overtake KRÜ in the overall rankings.

Both Cloud9 and LEVIATÁN concluded the week with 2-0 victories, Cloud9 defeating Evil Geniuses and LEVIATÁN defeating MIBR. Both teams achieved their first head-to-head victory of the season against their opponents. Cloud9 has taken the lead in Group Alpha, and LEVIATÁN has finally won their first series.

As for MIBR, the struggles continue. They haven’t won a series since Masters: Toronto, and their window to qualify for Champions is quickly shrinking, with several teams close behind them in the standings.

Stat-wise, LEVIATÁN’s in-game leader kiNgg was the standout performer of the week, with a 1.83 rating and 2.75 K/D.
